I view Canelo and the push to make him great one of the most ridiculous things of the modern era. He’s a good fighter but that’s it. Been loaded with PEDs all the way, created weight classes, selective matchmaking and of course rigged judging. Also blatant paying off of media members to spin him in a certain light.

Funnily enough, he seems to have disdain from his countrymen despite the PR.

I tend to think of Mexicans as being very real. They mince their words less. Most of my friends are Mexican yet I only know one Canelo fan.

At the time of the "stoppage" alvarez was ahead on the cards. No words.

Fantastic win no matter how it's spun.

It will certainly look good on his ledger but...

Do you think Canelo will take on the other ring rated LHWs?

i think it's irrelevant to be honest. 175 is too much for him imo but he still pulled it out tonight.

Fair enough. I'll still be watching with interest.

What he's done is pretty impressive. He's stepped way out of his comfort zone and if he is smart (imo) he'll slip back down. I couldn't see GGG beating him in a third match.

Me neither, but I think that this now has as much to do with Golovkin rapidly heading towards his 38th birthday, than anything else.

And, maintaining the theme of this thread, it might be a likely course for Canelo...

Canelo at his peak too i reckon. Currently he'd be a good match against the best of GGG perhaps.

Haha - Maybe - I'd have to give that some thought, but it doesn't seem unreasonable.
