So what? They were arm punches and light jabs. Look at the number of landed punches. Throwing jabs out and not hitting anything does not count as a scoring punch. You want proof? Look at Canelo's face; it wasn't even marked up.

Even Bernhard Hopkins could throw those jabs all night.

Yes those meaningless jabs were doing wonders and tons of damage.

Go cry in the corner baby.

I didn't expect an upset but I thought it would be a close fight with canelo getting a gift decision. Instead canelo looked like a bobble head and was eating every single jab that Kovalev threw. I overestimated canelos boxing skills. I knew Kovalev even though being shot would outbox canelo but not that easily. Kovalev was schooling him.

Had Kov up before the KO. Neither man was landing a lot, but Canelo was too conservative despite his nice pressuring footwork and defense, and got outworked. When he actually threw, he was usually more effective.

What is it with some of you claiming a fighter is "schooling" a fighter simply for throwing more jabs. This is not the Olympics.
Simply doing nothing but jabbing while in retreat mode does not win fights in the pros.

Kova wasn't shot at all but he fought scared the whole fight.

Its Its funny how nerves can drain you. He was much more active and threw harder punches against Yarde and was less fatigued.

Why do these big bad punchers fight like little pussies against Canelo. GGG, Kova and Jacobs don't have half the balls of Khan, Smith and Kirkland.

Khan, Smith and Kirkland went for the kill. GGG, Kova and Jacobs just tried to survive lol.

You say he wasn't shot but fought scared all night.

That's because it's a huge psychological issue as well as a physical one.

He obviously doesn't believe in himself as much as he once did. He knows that he's vulnerable.

A pre-Ward version of Kovalev would never have fought in that manner.

That's why people are calling him shot.

He was winning by his "keep away from me jabs" he had no mustered behind his power shots.

I don't know wtf happened, can you explain how a strong 175 can't hurt a former 147 pounder? just eating them like they were french fries.

All Kovalev had was a busy jab to keep Canelo off him and sneak in a few shots in between. He was winning but not dominating.

First time i have ever seen a former 147 pounder move up and bossing these bigger guys around the ring. It doesn't make sense. It's either Clenelo is on that juice or other reason is these bigger guys are shot to bits.
