It was clear that most of his jabs were blocked. Some rounds though Alvarez blocked a lot but didn’t fire back anything meaningful in return so it automatically went to Kovalev for me. Still a very tough fight for both of them despite the result.

I had it 7-3 Kov at the time of stoppage. Each to their own I guess. Canelo showed his class and stopped him. Well done.

    LOL seriously?

Kovalev, Fielding, Chavez, Jacobs; he tried to drain GGG as well but Golovkin told him to take a hike. Then when he dragged Khan up and Khan wanted a weight stipulation, Canelo told him no. Par for the course.

Absolutely spot on. Canelo couldn't go too hard early as Kov was too big. He waited him out very patiently. Kov fought well too, he fought conservatively while still racking up more than his share of rounds. If he went harder he would have wore down just as he eventually did and Canelo was quite sharp with his counters when Kov went overly hard. He had him fighting conservatively tho it was still going well for Kov regardless of the judges scores. He started to up the ante and as soon as Kov looked a bit work BOOM.

You're the one always talking about me and my posting trends and tone. Hell, you've done it on other forums than this one! I've read all that stuff. I don't even dislike you, I thought we BS'd about sexy Alexa Bliss and some Italian horror movies, etc. Only person I got (questionable testing) beef with is CJ's dumb ass.

No. No it wasn't a chessmatch. This was a somewhat boring, slow, checkers match where neither guy really impressed. Everything felt kind of weird, especially the ending, which may have been fixed.

No, it didn't. I don't usually get that emotionally invested in fights.

Canelo looked hopelessly outclassed for most of the fight. Not because he isn't good, but because he was so small and was reaching so much. Simply not enough volume to win rounds, as Scar pointed out above.

Canelo closed great. All power to him. But until that point in the fight, as I said earlier in the thread, it looked like a dad beating up his kid. Not close, and not particularly exciting.

kovalev couldnt afford to give him the space to punch, canelos short arms create a lot of torque in very tight spaces with very quick shots, while kovalevs long arms need more distance to create leverage. he is at a big disadvantage power and speed wise if he loosens his hug to punch. he tried it early and got a glove in his mouth for his troubles.
