I'm one of the people who thought Canelo couldn't possibly win this fight. It looked like a giant vs a midget in the middle of the ring, the size disparity was absolutely insane, Canelo clearly doesn't belong at 175. Even so, Canelo's punches absolutely had Kovalev scared. It was a weird fight, you could see Kovalev was bothered and feared exchanging with Canelo, he knew he couldn't take more of those shots so he smartly used his jab and reach to win rounds. I had Kova up 7 rounds before the stoppage but the scorecards don't matter after that savage KO.

Canelo is without a doubt the p4p king and the fighter of the decade. Haters gonna hate, but that's just how it is.

Kovalev was "scared" because he knew his punch resistance was gone, not because Alvarez was a scary puncher you know nothing casual asshat.

I saw the same fear in GGG in the second fight. They don't want it.

Did you not watch the fight? Every time Canelo countered immediately Kovalev back down and stuck back to the jab. He absolutely DID NOT want to exchange with Canelo. Now we know why.

It's not just the power, it's the speed and explosiveness of the sharp counters. Tough to commit when you know something could come back you don't see.

Kovalev shot to bits since the first Alvarez fight.

Punch resistance and stamina severly lacking. Also not pulling the trigger like he was once able to.

Was nearly stopped by a British level slugger in his last fight, who before then had never even faced anyone in the top 40 in the world at LHW.

Typical performance from a fighter who has had a tough career at the highest level and is over the age of 35

    He was scared of:

    - gassing out
    - his weak chin

And in the end, his fears were realized on both counts.

That shot from Canelo to set things up was a heck of a shot, though. That was a great punch.

Kovalev beat the other Alvarez earlier this year, easily winning back the WBO title he lost in an upset...... After that, he fought Yarde and lost 2 rounds in his last fight. I repeat, he lost TWO ROUNDS in his last fight, yet he's shot to bits.

You're a hater and are never gonna give Canelo credit. It's sad honestly.

I made a thread projecting exactly what would happen; Alvarez the hyena beat another old shot fighter. Wake me up when your hero takes a real challenge.

And, to be fair, it wasn't great even in his prime.

I also made a thread predicting all the whining and excuse making that would take place if Canelo won the fight.

don't bring GGG here. Canelo threw all he could he wasn't able to hurt GGG while that shot 10th round hit Canelo so hard that he is still scared of a third fight.

well, it's kinda relative then isn't it? a boxer who knows his punch resistance is gone will view even a slightly above average puncher as a big threat. hence being scared by the punches..

I agree with you. I also thought Canelo had no chance in hell. I do give Canelo credit for fighting him though.

Still I feel he is cheating and it is BS. He will continue to hand pick opponents and will fly back down to 160 to fight guys we know he can beat.
