Kovalev fought a great fight. If he had just keep touching Canelo with the jab he would have been totally robbed on the cards since everyone not corrupt had him ahead. Probably would have got a lucrative rematch and made Canelo look terrible.

As soon as Kovalev opened up Canelo caught him he should have stuck with Buddy’s instructions. It was obvious from the first few rounds Canelo very quick with his counters and he was carrying some power. Canelo is very lucky he caught Kovalev cause he looked ineffective all fight.

You really don’t get that I’m not bothered about Canelo winning, he’s made history and I’m happy that we now get to possibly see some great fights at 160 or 175.

You really are the epitome of a groupie and it’s very disturbing.

I was rooting for Kovalev & even bet on the guy. The truth is that Kovalev tried to land with power and Canelo made him miss. Kovalev opted for speed and energy conservation vs power and it was working till the 11th...

Could you explain with the connects being virtually equal, how the fighter just touching gets a decision over a fighter landing much heavier???

Eh. Not throwing hard is a common way for boxers to avoid gassing.

That's why fighters with jab-heavy styles tend to have the best stamina.

The announcer clearly stated that McGirt was telling him to just touch Canelo instead of committing his jabbing in full because McGirt feared a Canelo devastating counterpunch would get through otherwise.

That was the strategy that McGirt told Kovalev to follow.

I put a good chunk of the blame on McGirt. Kovalev's has a terrific jab. He employed a sharp and heavy jab both fight against Andre Ward, but on the advice of Buddy McGirt it was nonexistent vs Canelo.

He just fought the same as he did Eleider Alvarez in the rematch and Yarde a few months ago.
    Wtf are you talking about?

Dude is old and his stamina is basically gone. WTf was he supposed to do? Go all out and get KTFO early?
