Pacquiao was a massive underdog and everyone expected him to lose. Kovalev just nearly got ktfo by Yarde a couple of months ago. Canelo was the favorite. Also Pacquiao dominated Oscar while Canelo didnt dominate Kovalev. Also Oscar is an atg while Kovalev is not. The two situations are not comparable.

Even though canelo’s had all his issues regarding drugs, catch weights, dodgy scorecards and all that crap. As a fighter he’s one of the only people who’s willing to fight anyone and move up in weight to do so regardless of the circumstances. For that he deserves respect.
Everybody in the world STILL ranks Kovalev #5 at LHW. And that is with Canelo slotting in above him. So, even after getting KTFO by Canelo, he is still the #4 best LHW in the world not named Canelo. And people try to discredit the win? OK folks.
H2h he is not even in top 20 in lhw. He is ranked due to his former achievements. If you look objectively Kovalev has 0 punch resistance, he gets tired after 5 rounds of doing nothing and he cannot throw a power shot anymore. Even after a full training camp he would probably get KOed by any tough younger guy these days.
