How would Canelo fare against the Joey Maxim who made SRR quit on his stool?

He's loses over 15, on points.
Close decision for Canelo over 12.

Canelo would outbox Maxim imo but would suffer from his own stamina and lose rounds to make it close.

    Maxim UD

If they fight under the same circumstances Robinson fought in, Canelo gasses and the corner stops the fight

Canelo would enter the ring about 20 lbs heavier than Robinson, and would not be giving up anything strength-wise to Maxim. He would not be dancing away from him all night, but stay right in front of him - thus spending much less energy than Robinson.

Both have very strong chins, so a KO is unlikely, imo.

I will take Canelo on points.

Depends .. Golden Boy would match Canelo with the Maxim that Tyson pulled out of working in the casinos to meet ..

I need to see a little bit more from Canelo before I would feel comfortable picking him!

Maxim would win most of the round but end up losing a wide decision cause Canelo.

I don't know what it is about Canelo that makes him so disliked but I kinda understand it.

Objectively, he's a helluva boxer. Talented, skillful and smart. But, yeah, I get it.

    A loaded question..
I don't believe Maxim made Robinson quit .I think he was in the right place at the right time on the right night. You could have hung a heavybag in there and moved it around. Robinson was the only one doing the fighting.
Even the referee quit in the 10th. He was moving more than Maxim. It was the hottest nite in the history of New York City on that date. It was uncommon.

I think his tragic flaw is believing his own hype a bit ...enough with saying he wanted the toughest test but fights 36 year old Kovalev right after Crusher has a brutal bout and no time to recover to fit Canelo's schedule , etc .. reminds me of Chavez in the Don King days .. he can fight an to me his best win was over Jacobs, e real win but he is so catered to and has everything choreographed in his favor ..

Canelo is very talented and is a good puncher with can box and defend himself well. Kovalev cant take a solid punch anymore. Maxim had a rock solid chin, was strong and could box- Kovalev had an effective jab vs Canelo- Maxim would be better Maxim by a close but clear UD over 12-15 - Canelo could not hurt Maxim

I like Canelo and think he is an improved fighter who is naturally strong and has become a smarter boxer since his loss to Floyd and his ko over Kovalev was a perfect example of follow-up left hook right hand- that ko reminded me of Marciano killer instinct -he sensed the fighter hurt with the hook and the right hand finished him. That being said, I think the Delahoya relationship hurts him- one because of the 3G fights- Judges leaned with Canelo in fight 1 (I thought 3G won) 2nd fight was closer but a draw or 3G win would have been fair.

Most people know Oscar & co have influence with the judges - what motivates them to lean with Oscar - much like King used to do- much like Frankie Carbo was accused of.

Not Canelo's fault - he just fights
