Just watched a few of his new vids, and for 90 years old, he is looking quite snappy and fresh. Who remembers his classic analogies and metaphors when he was with HBO? I'd love to see him on the DAZN commentating team. they need a LOT of help.
Yes. Honestly, they could get anybody on the forum here and it'd be a step up from that assclown/DKSAB Chris Mannix...and Brian Kenny.
Hell no. Larry Merchant sucks!! He tries to make the broadcast all about him by talking over the audience and drawing ridiculous analogies. Then he tries to play Hard Copy reporter with the athletes during the post fight interviews. Always trying to drop gotcha type questions and trying to get the fighters to answer the questions to fit his own narrative. He brings an agenda with him every time. He wasn't always that bad, but he got more full of himself as the years wore on.
He's fresher than kovalev at the moment. I didn't realize he was that old. I liked when he asked big George why he didn't want to give Hopkins any credit when he was beating Trinidad after about 8 rounds.
the man is a legend in the boxing world, hes rubbed elbows with the sports royalty, his whole life. extremely intelligent, knowledgeable, arrogant, contentious... whats not to like for a co star on the mic? pair him up with a company man and watch larry embarrass him all night.
lol, youre never gonna forgive larry for knocking floyds beer over, are you? let it go bro, we all know floyd would have beat larry at any age.
so what if he challenged boxers with tough questions? Whats he supposed to do? be a Floyd or Canelo Nuthugger? he calls it like it is, and his analogies are genius, especially when he's drinking
Lol exactly this.Admittedly I am a bit f a Floyd fan but I do see the similarities between him and Canelo in that we keep getting told they’re the best PFP boxers when in reality none of em do what Beterbiev and Gvozdyk did the other week as that would mean two prime fighters in a 50/50 fight winner takes all affair.
Nah it wasnt just pbf it was rjj Hopkins and others he was just disrespectful to boxers. He was a hater.
i dont believe he was a hater, he just didnt hold these fighters in awe like a lot of us do. i loved that about him, he was never obsequious. hes a very confident guy, he knows he can hold his own against anyone, in doing what he was paid to do. i feel his mind started to slow towards the end of his career. but now i think it may have been the drinking, cause ive seen recent video of him and his mind still seems pretty quick.
