If you are Andre Ward right now..

Ward could realistically win 10 rounds, and the judges could still give Canelo and Ward 6 rounds a piece.

If I were Ward right now... I practice my low blows, nut punches, elbows and illegal clenches while suing my promoter and teasing a comeback at heavyweight to face Joshua before Capt Snickers dropped him.

If he is intelligent, like I believe he is, he should remain retired. He has not fought in a while, a good champion should leave his name in the history books of boxing. Greed is a bad thing, unless he is Sugar Ray Leonard, defeating Marvelous Marvin Hagler, after a long layoff. There are a few boxing greats who retired, and never came back, their legacy is cemented in history.

 

No im one of those who predictied Ward would retire undefeated when he became a pro. Shame I cant go back in history that far for my posts. Im also one of those that predicted errol spence would retire defeated which will happen one day too.

 

If there's a lot of money in it, sure!
He would very probably end up at the wrong end of a controversial decision, so bad from a legacy standpoint, but great from a money standpoint.

 

I think Ward quite enjoys being knowin as the guy who beat Froch, Kovalev twice etc...and being undefeated.

He's, potentially, risking that very clean record and tainting his legacy.

Besides, I think if he'd seriously had that itch to get back in the ring he'd have probably already been back by now.

He likes retirement.

Liks i said, he kept his 0, beat some quality opposition, made a nice few quid, is lauded as a great by many, and he doesn't feel like he has anything left to prove.

Me, personally, I'm not a huge fan.

I was never really excited by him in the ring and I found his "persona" outside the ring a little forced.

You know, the "I'm mentally so tough" Ward who "can't be got at psychologically by anyone".

I always felt like a fighter that had a bit more intellectual vigour could have made him look rather one dimensional in any face to face vocal exchanges.

Watch his face to face with Froch to see what I mean.

Had Froch been smarter and more articulate he could have made Andre look a bit silly.

Anyway, that's just a personal opinion; but what isn't an opinion is Ward is retired, has an enviable record, lots of people respect him (lots don't), and he has plenty of money.

I don't think any fight will tempt him out of retirement...nor any amount of money, short of some absurd fantasy figure pulled from a fairytale.

Offer him 100 million, and a couple of warm ups, then fight Canelo this time next year?

Maybe...maybe...but, I still think he would say no in the end.

Once a fighter makes peace with retirement and no longer feels like they have something to prove they are done, and there's nothing you can offer them that beats time with their family, their health, and maintaining their legacy.

 

So if a fighter retires after having a HOF career he's sacred? STFU you sound stupid as ****.

 

Money is not everything, a place in history is more important, not greed. And Kovolov was not God.

He was "retired" when he spent over 5 years & only fought 4 times against club fighters while continually fighting with his terminally ill manager. Was that a HOF career ?? His last two fights against Kovalev were they HOF worthy.?? The first he got a gift decision. The second he made Golota look like a choirboy Blatant low blows contiuously while ref Tony Weekes looked the other way Should have been DQ'd & Weekes have his eyesight checked. In other words he's just an obnoxious, despicable dirty fighter in my book

Ward is a HOF fighter and you're full of **** as always. I bet you still haven't give Canelo his due in his fight against Kovalev like you said you would.

 

Ward is a bigger name than Kovalev and Danny jacobs so if Canelo can sell those names he can sell Ward too. At least Ward is undefeated and is one of the best SMWs to fight in the divisions young history.

I havent seen that fight yet so cannot comment but from reports Ive read Kovalev was winning the fight up to the lucky contraversial KO. Is that how it went???? If I think Canelo deserved the win after viewing the fight I'll willingly give him the credit he deserves
