From Good old James J Corbett thru to Mr Fury, which is the greatest heavyweight lineal champ the prime Real deal could beat?
Hmmm I think he could hang with any of them. Beat? Probably Tyson...can’t see him beating a prime Foreman or Holmes. I can see him having real close fights with Frazier and Marciano as well. Although I don’t think he beats those guys. So my pick would be Tyson.
My own opinion George how Holyfield does against top names. Ali - loses by decision Louis - Hard fought fight, bitterly hard but Joe stops him in 12. Foreman-obviously prime, stops him in 5. Frazier - Another hard fight, Frazier wears him down, stops him in 14. Marciano - Tough one, either man could get it but it's brutal. Dempsey - Would be a war, I lean toward Jack but CAN'T discount Holy ever. Prime Holmes - Larry by decision. Johnson - The longer it goes the more chance Johnson gets it but I'll go with The real Deal by stoppage. Klitschko s, Holy struggles with vitali and loses on point s. Wlad I'm thinking it's a close decision win.
Pretty good,,,though I doubt Wlad could hide his chin for 15 rounds vs a prime Evander. If a fight breaks out Wlad gets ko'ed in about 12
I don't know. But I do know this. He would compete with anyone in any era, and if you go with guys prior to 1985 when they were 220 or 210 average in weight, then he would beat more people than anyone would ever imagine. I see him beating Frazier at heavyweight.
Evanders heart and tenacity in his prime win draw or lose will age you to the point of never being the same pug regardless of your fighting style one of the most all round marvelous boxers ever. I don't have a H2H list as too many variables regarding every possible bout makes it quite time consuming but I do have him besting a prime Lennox.
I'm going to say Liston. Holyfield took Foreman's , Tyson's, Lewis's and Bowe's shots pretty well. Against Liston he would lose the early rounds but with his better stamina and workrate I can see him stopping Liston late.
