Bulking up doesn't help increase punching power, also Inoue is not a volume-combination puncher so endurance PEDs will not help him bulk-up and use the extra weight for torque to push opponents & setup them up for better punches. Inoue can refine his punches, Rigo, Gervonta & Vasyl are excellent opponents for him due to their small frame & he should focus on those 3 opponents.
He just signed with TR, so I assume that's where he's headed 'cause Arum likes in-house fights and they have more in-house options at 122 than 118. The Navarrette fight would be a classic.
When speed remains the same, power increases when weight increases. Generating power is just one part of the equation. You need to effectively transfer the force on your target, and this requires strength. The bigger the opponent, the more strength you need. In addition, your punch resistance goes up when you bulk up as long as the neck makes proportional gains. He looked small next to Donaire. If he wants to successfully move up he absolutely needs to be put on muscle. This process should obviously be done slowly to acclimate himself to the added weight.
i want to see him vs neri. neri can bang, and inoue can be hit. inoue leaves his chin in the air when he punches, but people are reluctant to trade hooks with him cause he hits so hard. i think neri has the speed and the power to trade with him successfully. he is also ver explosive and inoue has trouble flowing defensively against combinations. he needs to be taught to glue his defensive hand to his chin when he punches.
Ye, you just have to look at their fights with a common opponent in Payano to see the power differential. Inoue took donaire’s hooks, probably one of the hardest single punch p4p in boxing. I’m pretty sure he takes it from anyone else at 118.
Both have power but inoue proved he has the superior chin. Neri was down against a journeyman and a fringe contender
Donaire is though as hell. And he was hurt on several occasions. Power won´t be an issue for Inoue at 122lbs.
you dont need the most power in a division, you just need the ability to land with enough of it. inoue looks like he presents the opportunity to land it, and neri got enough of it. on the other side, neri punches very wide, and inoue has a couple of great straight punches, fast punches, so he stands a great chance of icing neri too. basically, i want to see what would happen.
Inoue passed the chin, heart and gut checks against Nonito and he proved he could go the full 12 round duration at a good pace in a tough fight and overcome adversity against a dangerous puncher who was able to catch him fairly regularly and even hurt him. That right hand Nonito hurt him with in the 9th landed really clean with full extension on it and Inoue did really well to not hit the canvas after shipping it. This content is protected That being said, I think we need to pump the brakes on all this talk of him winning titles up to 175 because I just don't see that as realistic after the way Nonito was able to withstand his power. Granted he could spark out a hideously glass-jawed 175 pounder like a Roy for instance, but the likes of Beterbiev, Bivol and Gvozdyk would be a bridge too far IMO. I think his ceiling is probably 168 albeit there are fighters ranked in the top 10 at 175 I would favour him against. He definitely beat the living **** out of Caleb Plant down at 168 and Anthony Yarde up at 175 and I can't see this cracked chin shot to smithereens version of Kovalev hanging around too long against him either.
inoue hasn't really taken damage in his prior fights which helped him greatly. Road might get rougher if he moves up in weight. More brutal fight. Lets see if he is durable. I believe he passed the all the test and requirements.
