Tysons early boxing family comment on Tyson Vs Ali at their peaks

Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Azzer85, Nov 13, 2010.

  1. true but ali´s style would expose many of tyson´s flaws , they both had the style to give the hell to the other one. ali would fight much better than tillis, green, biggs or tucker. ali had the stamina to run during all the fight, they could not, and ali could take a better punch ,it is the great difference
true, but tyson was too weak mentally , ali destroyed his rivals mentally before of the fight. joe frazier had x4 more heart than mike, more stamina, his left hook was comparable to the hardest shot of tyson. tyson had more arsenal. but joe was stronger late.and still joe never faced a prime 64-67 ali, sonny liston, chuvalo, patterson, williams .. they did, and you watched the result.

good point. but i am pretty sure on that if cus was living today , he would pick ali like winner, just like rooney, patterson atlas...

i respect every opinion, but to say " tyson would ko or destroy ali" "ali would beat tyson easily" it is simply the biggest **** i listened ever.
i think that tyson might beat ali 70s, tyson had a bad style for this ali. but a prime ali 64-67 would beat tyson by ud or late tko, always with a lot job

I'm a massive Tyson - he's my fav fighter of all time & the reason why I became so passionate about Boxing!

However, I would say both at their Peaks, Ali wins!

However, it is absurd when people come out with such ridiculous statements such as "Mike Tyson would not have hit Ali on his ass".

It would have been a competitive fight - that I'm in no doubt about!

Ali takes him to the deep waters and drowns Tyson. Late TKO.

Think Holyfield v Foreman in round 7, then think Ali v London.

Combos are well thought out, stepped in with punches that the thrower expects to land. A flurry is just a series of fast, mostly arm punches, more to impress judges than to seriously damage. Leonard flurried a lot v Hagler. Roy Jones would flurry when he wanted the ref to stop a fight where he was overwhelming an opponent.

A flurry gives up power for speed so there's very little turning of the hip, bending at the knee, snapping of shoulder or elbow. Combinations might not feature full power on each punch, and are generally just two, three or four punches rather than umpteen. And you can usually bet that there will be full power on at least one of them.

I've said that like it's the definitive answer. Not at all. Just how I see it.

Tyson was more explosive than Joe Frazier punch for punch. I think he would hurt Ali early and probably shock Ali with his quickness. Ali wouldnt stay down though. He would get up with those awesome recuperative powers and ring IQ off the charts.
Mike would have to invest in the body attack consistently the way Joe Frazier did. The jab to the chest would be a good idea then shovel hooks and uppercuts to Ali's midsection.
The problem for Tyson is that he is gonna get peppered on the way in. Ali is gonna touch him consistently. That is not gonna help Tyson's confidence. He doesn't take a punch like Frazier and he doesn't have the same belief in himself to keep digging even when your losing some rounds.
I'm not going full on Teddy Atlas with it. I think Tyson would pose problems for Ali and be dangerous but there is something to heart and mental toughness part of it. That's where the biggest gap here is.
When a fight goes into deep water it doesn't really have anything to do with boxing at that point.

It depends what quotes you are using and when ?

I know for a fact long after Tyson retired that a older Rooney didnt think Ali would last beyond 4 rounds .

I also know Tysons close friend he roomed with also Steve Lott said the best Tyson defeats Ali at least ina rematch I know bc I had that convo with him .

It doesn't really matter ,you look at blue print fights and we have Frazier who is 70% of what Tyson brought to that type of fight.

Ali has two choices here, either clinch and lose a UD or get knocked out by the vicous counter puncher who matches speed .

One thing was Tyson frustrations could emerge but what does ali do after the mid rounds IF the fight is still going ? Tysons ability is vastly overatted and like I said you had to HURT this man to defeat him under Rooney no if or buts ,that's why no one did or came close.

when you take two fighters and compare who they excelled agaionst and see who has the advantage its clearly Tyson against tall 6'3/plus guys as opposed to Ali who ran into trouble with Cooper ,Mildenberg , Frazier ,seriously Tysons a plus performances over shadow Ali's …..

Ali would be in some serious hurt if he lasted ,decent fight ? Well it depends how much Ali himself can fight back , we know Tyson fights best when motivated ,wouldn't Alis mouth motivate him a little to much ? Think about it.

Well it's sacrilege, and almost like you're committing suicide if you pick against Ali because he's larger than life and was so beloved by most fans and non fans. Every time I pick against Ali I feel like the Illuminati is coming after me. So with Team Tyson comparing the two would look foolish and biased on their part if they picked Mike. It's almost like a rule of thumb on what "not" to do, and that's pick yourself over Ali.

Look how Lennox Lewis, especially, and Holyfield answer when asked if they can beat so and so...they always say they can beat anyone. It doesn't sit well with fans and sounds like selfish bragging. That's how I see it. And Lennox continues to sound vain and anti humble. A bit narcissistic, to say the least.

You have obviously never met Lennox Lewis. He is a very down to earth guy if fact he's very shy. As for him bragging I was there when a fan said to him " Lennox you are the only guy I would pick to beat Ali". Lennox grinned & said
"You'd lose I could never have beaten Ali he really was the GREATEST OF ALL TIME". Thats why he was proud to be a pall bearer at Ali's funeral
