There were very few welter`s that would have stood a chance, maybe a lightweight with the athleticism of Ray Leonard but I doubt it and nor do I think any light welter could have beat Tommy either.
Come on man...that was a 33 year old Duran at 154. A 1979-80 Duran just moved up facing Hearns who wasn't quite as strong at '47. Duran was so much quicker at this time.
Come on man........ Duran was knocked out in the 2nd round I agree at 147 it would've lasted longer but Hearns has Duran's number
He was hurt by Gibbons, though time out probably didn't help. McFarland's offensive style would be interesting to see against Hearns, though I'm not sure it'd be ideal.
It was an out of shape Packey with time off, not what I'd call prime. A last hurrah to assert his dominance in history, in my eyes. McFarland has an impeccable chin and good power to back that up, I'm sure he'd hold his own at 147 with Hearns.
Duran! Hearns didn't have his number. Hit him with a great shot, that's all. And I don't believe in lucky punches, he hit him , nailed him good. That doesn't mean he had his number.
He hit Duran with quite a few good punches, notably all of them, Duran didnt win a second in their fight. He was picked apart
