What bum are they wheeling out for Justin Hodges? Another 45 year old Dad who goes to the gym a couple days a week? A fat Uber driver? A wino from the alley?
Maybe they'll drag Bob Mirovic out of retirement? Wait... They probably tried that already only Bob can't get a license anymore.
* Darcy Lussick former Manly and Parramatta Eel is the next opponent for Justin Hodges. DL is currently playing for the Toronto WolfPack on 450 k a yr and trained by his father who is bodyguard to the rich and famous. * Billy Dib opponent for Dec 20 is Vietnam Van Thao Tran for the WBC Australasian Title. * David Light has been in Brisbane and sparring at the Bethania Boxing Club with Justis Huni. * Conor Wallace returning Gold Coast Dec 13. Unfortunately we can't do anything about footy players getting big money, they can sell a ppv & generate way more money, it's a sad thing as alot of boxers are worth more money then getting paid but the big money is overseas for actual fighters, I don't mind gallen vs hall card because it actually has a decent main. Shame leapai vs browne couldnt be made wouldve been a good scrap
I'm really looking forward to the fights on Friday night. Particularly Andrew Moloney's. We've been too long without a professional world champion. Sure, it's only an 'interim' world title but that's what Bilal Akkawy was fighting for when he got wiped out. And it won't stay interim for long. The winner will get upgraded to WBA regular champ status before the year is out & can then set about defending it regularly next year. That's what we want - a regular flow of world title fights featuring our best fighters. Friday night should be the start of things to come. I'm also looking forward to Jason Moloney's fight and yes, even Paul Gallen against Triple B (Big Bad Barry). I think Galllen wins but I've put something on the draw just for fun. I'll be cheering for Triple B to hang in there if Gallen gets on top & is pushing for a stoppage. Perfectly understandable if Michael Zerafa elects to delay his fight with Horndog until next year. He wouldn't know what to do with himself right now. He needs to keep training through if he's going to fight in December but that may not be the right course of action for him. Horndog should take a tune-up on the scheduled date if Michael Zerafa is unavailable. That's probably something he should have done regardless & let Zerafa challenge for the world title. His chances are better in the rematch if he's coming in off a win. Particularly against a decent opponent.
Agreed understandable if Zerafa needs to postpone the fight but I actually think that will benefit Horn as I think he jumped back into this rematch to early. I still pick Zerfafa to win by KO either way. I think Hall left his run at boxing too late he probably would have beaten Gallen if he had started a few years ago.
good luck to gallen and hall making big money from the fight. wouldn't bother me if they got 10 mill each, it doesn't affect me. if people r silly enough to pay for it then so be it. the fact that gallen has said publicly that he will not face willis meehan says it all imo. good exposure for the full time boxers though at least.
Boxers whinging about the pay parity with footballers need to get a grip, it's a bit like Shelia's in sport demanding the same as the blokes, it's all supply n demand.... goes for the type of job u do in the real world as well. I can't stand Gallen but i bet the sydney pubs will be packed Friday night to watch him, also the Melbourne pubs given Barry is an AFL player... good luck to them both, i'll actually watch it if im out having a few frothies...... going for Barry obviously. The other day they made a big song and dance about shelia socceroos getting the same as the blokes.... spare me please, the blokes playing in socceroos get their dollars from the clubs, the Australian federation dont pay squat. Lets see if Manchester united or city pay their sheilia's the same as blokes in a few years??? they'll go broke in no time. BTW did anyone actually know big Daddy fought at St Mary's over the weekend? I certainly didn't, that goes to show you how popularly he is, maybe a few diehards on this forum did.
* Ch 9 Cameron Williams has said ticket sales slow for Code of War and hoping for a late rush, Triple M Mark Geyer has said Gallen and Hall are receiving a rumored 600 k each. I'm not sold on BH yet as he has only been in training camp for 8 wks and he reminds of former North Qld enforcer Carl Webb who had a fearsome reputation as a AM boxer and was terrible in his only pro fight. * Big Daddy has claimed Danny Green offered him a fight with Alex Leapai on late notice for Code of War but had to reject it because his trainer was in Thailand. * Tej Singh vs Victor Nagbe off . * Power punching Luke Boyd 8 - 0 8 ko added to Tszyu undercard. Highlights from St Marys' Card. This content is protected
Tej Singh would be a good opponent for Horndog if Michael Zerafa is unavailable. Preferably with the Australian title on the line. Triple B v Paul Gallen will do big PPV numbers irrespective of the live gate. Lots of people are talking about it. A bloke at work wanted to show me footage of Triple B poleaxing guys on the football field in order to convince me that Gallen's in big trouble. I'm taking the PPV to watch Andrew Moloney's world title fight which I think will be a lot more competitive than the odds-makers have it.
lucas browne rejected the leapai fight? what a bullsh-t excuse he gave. we all know he has no intention of fighting leapai, and this just proves it imo.
