I just don't get it?? . Can you inform me exactly why team Chavez the A-Side are fighting Jacobs B-Side? Jacobs by tko Chavez Jr. Needs a better match maker Imo. Am I missing something? Gotta give Chavez Jr. Credit.
He's in his 30's now, he cant be handpicking and fighting C level opposition if he wants to land a high paying big fight against GGG or Canelo. Yeah, Jrs. aim is to beat Jacob to land a Canelo Alvarez rematch.
I’m not sure Chavez did pick Jacobs.Probably a mutual thing between both teams? I’m mildly interested to see what Chavez looks like at the weight.Wouldnt bother with any strict drug testing anyway.
Chavez obviously wants another big payday against Canelo, he knows if he cleary beats Jacobs he might get a rematch.
There’s a thread on the British forum about Hauser uncovering Hearns efforts to have this fight moved outside the jurisdiction of of the usual places on account of Chavez testing hot for PEDs only weeks ago. Just shows why one would never expect any honesty around the subject of PEDs from Promoters ect.
Chavez is 33 years old, and his career is slipping away, and say what you want about the guy, he's never avoided hard fights.
I see Jacobs as a much better boxer than Chavez. Chavez has chin and power and heart, but I don't think its going to be enough.
I doubt anyone will sanction a garbage fight for Jr. If he's going to continue to box and make money, he'll have to take these fights.
Chavez is not an 'A-side' fighter against decent competition any longer. He p155ed that away with the one-sided losses to Martinez (apart from the last minute or so), Fonfara and Canelo, the failed drug test and poor training/ discipline, the fighting once a year since 2012. Whilst he was once a decent middleweight, you can only live off your father's name without doing anything or note for so long. Jacobs will never be box office, but he is a well respected fighter who is never an easy night for anyone, skilled, powerful, legit top 5 middleweight. He should really be far too much for JCCJr, unless he really loses something with the move up in weight.
