He got a hammering all the way through... I kinda felt sorry for him towards the end as he was almost trying to escape and marquez still continued to land everything no matter where he threw from.... Can't remember what round it was that he lands a flush uppercut to katsidis throat and it makes me wince haha

 

A shame Earl got sent to prison. He gave it all in that one.

Marquez was obviously on PEDs in IV he looked like a miniature Hulk with back acne sprouting all over his back.

Marquez willingness to go to any length to gain an edge, including his habit of drinking his own urine, is well known.

Mayweather was caught with an IV in his veins! Yet Manny gets the heat. Personally I blame racism.

 

2008-2010 Lightweight doesn't look particularly stacked. 2008 had Calzaghe, Hopkins, and Tarver at Light Heavy, Froch, Kessler, Bute at Super Middle, Forrest, Williams, Martinez at Jr. Middle, Margarito, Cotto, Mosley, Pacquiao at Welter, Darchinyan, Montiel, Arce at Junior Bantam, Donaire, Wonjongkam, Narvaez at Fly.

Amazing fight between two absolute warriors.

For a long time Katsidis was my favourite fighter. He really took the mantle off Gatti there, and was engaged in a number of brutal wars. His battles with Earl, Amonsot and Casamayor were incredible FOTY type affairs. Marquez was hot and cold depending on who his dance partner was, but his fights with Diaz, Katsidis and Pacman (1, 2 & 4) were all brilliant.

Anyone looking to land shots on Katsidis was in for a fight, as was Marquez on that night.

Beoche, you talked about that 8 punch combination, a fighter throwing in such multiples leaves himself vulnerable for return fire.
Marquez could have played it safe and boxed Katisidis' ears off two and three punches at a time, but by that point in his career he couldn't afford to do that as that would have discouraged team Pacquiao from wanting a fight with him.
Because Marquez looked somewhat vulnerable against Katsidis and Diaz is the reason why team Pacquiao was so confident and made the fight happen for a 3rd time.
That 3rd time is when Freddie Roach made a statement and said, "Manny always has mercy on his opponents, he's to nice a guy, but against Marquez I've instructed him NO MERCY, take him out merciless!!!"
Alex Ariza stated, "Not even God can help Marquez against Manny now!"

There isn't a doubt in my mind that Marquez and Beristain planned it to fight Diaz and Katsidis toe to toe, not to see through that gameplan would have discouraged team Pacquiao from taking the Marquez fight again.

Fight 3 comes and there is Marquez circling the laterals and firing only in two's and three's, not leaving himself vulnerable against Pacquiao by throwing the 4+ combinations that left him susceptible to have a shot landed on him that could put him on the canvas.
You know the story as well as I do Beoche, Marquez goes on to school Pacquiao, doesn't hit the canvas this time, but we know what happened, "cash cow got his hand raised again." LOL!

Anyways, my point is this, if Marquez would have fought Diaz and Katsidis with the game plan he used in the 3rd Pacquiao fight, those guys would have never layed a glove on Marquez.

 

The Mayweather fight was a factor as well, team Pacquiao figured Marquez was looking vulnerable at 135 lbs and then outright slow. vs Mayweather at 147 lbs. All those factored pointed to them that Marquez was easy pickings.

No way it was the pressure that forced Marquez to war with Diaz and Kats. When both those fighters attacked Marquez, Marquez was more than willing to respond to every single punch they were throwing.
Really pay close attention to the exchanges in viewing those fights, specifically the Diaz fight which I thought Marquez was winning handily on the scorecards. Yeah, Diaz was pursuing and landing some shots, but just about everytime Marquez was countering Diaz' connects with better shots of his own.
People who are of the opinion that the fight was even on the scorecards really dont pay close attention to what is actually connecting more effectively. There are some that even had Diaz ahead based on him pressuring and completely disregarding that Marquez' connects are landing much cleaner and with much more authority.
Marquez was content to have Diaz pursue him, even setting himself on the ropes countering viciously with hooks and uppercuts off of there.
As that fight wore, Marquez got accustomed to Diaz' tendencies and was just unloading with heavy artillery on the counter.
My friend, he layed Diaz out because he had him measured and walking right into his punches.

I will admit this though, that ring in Texas was small as heck which didn't give Marquez a lot of room to operate, but heck Marquez gets it done in whatever the conditions, they could have held those fights in a phone booth and Marquez would have walked out of there victorious.
Poor Juan Diaz wanted none of any exchanges with Marquez, he actually tried to outbox him from distance in the rematch. LOL!
