Did they really think they could repeat what ortiz did for 4 rounds in the first fight and just do that for 12 this time without wilder not hurting him at some point. The best way to deal with wilder is to go on total offense from round one. I know that this strat is often easier said then done but since wilder is going to ko you anyway, it might be the much better one.
That was total offense. Ortiz has a 1-2 and nothing else. Ortiz's skill comes from his timing, not his arsenal.
Well if Ortiz was much younger and if he was able to win the first 7 8 rounds and then run and protect himself, then it would be a good tactic.
Nah Ortiz did good man Wilder was being sneakily astute on defence. Nobody can take that right hand, actually Ortiz took it fairly well tbh he was still conscious. Team Wilder respects Ortiz he's a good man and a family man he should join the Bomb Squad as chief sparring partner for Deontay.
Ortiz is slow and old, so there's not much tactics available to him. He was doing well until he completely crumbled after 1 short right hand. God that was embarrassing.
Sorry bud, I know how badly you were salivating for Deontay's loss today. You would be non stop saying 2 Wilders losing on the same day LOL. Next time, friend!
there he is, mvc! i thought jakeoaree stole you forever, good see u back at it. Wilder for the WIN. W is for Win. W is for WILDER. W is for bombsqWadddd
It was clear in the first fight that Ortiz only has 6 good rounds in him and then starts to tire. His technique and discipline deserts him when he is tired, which is when Wilder picks his opening and lands the sleeping pill shot. This was a repeat of the first fight without the thrilling knock downs in the earlier rounds.
Ortiz looked like Trevor Berbick when Mike Tyson KO'd but the referee in the Berbick fight allowed Berbick to stagger around the ring and kept falling down... This content is protected
That is an absolutely idiotic idea. Sure lets get into a slug fest with DW. The dude has quick hands and can hurt you with either hand, you goin in there slugging away and you open yourself to multiple opportunities for him to counter you. The way you beat DW is to stay away and outbox him while hitting him hard enough to make him think twice about coming in.
Per post fight Ortiz was happy with his instructions. Stated he was glad jusdges saw him winning every round. Then responded he wasn't winded, in great shape-then laughingly responded to the next question, did he see the punch coming. "If I had seen it, the fight would still be going on" Winning every second of the fight for 7 rounds is the result of a stupid strategy? There wasn't even a jab to set up the shot. At some point every fighter on earth be it Ali, Floyd or Roy will get hit a few times in 12 rounds. Ortiz said post fight- with Wilder...all Deontay needs is one second in a fight. What strategy can prepare a person to go 12 rounds being hit zero times?
