Saying "Wilder Only has a big punch" = saying "Usain Bolt is just fast"

And trying to act like he's not the greatest sprinter ever.

It's heavyweight boxing the goal is to ko your opponent.

Wilder has ktfo 100% of the men he has faced, not one man was able to maintain consciousness for the full 12 rounds.

If Wilder needed to box and play patty cakes, he would do that.

Guys like Fury have no choice but to learn all this other stuff because they can't punch.

Just appreciate greatness while it's here will you.

Ogh please. Wilder looks like a clown in terms of boxing skills. What greatness should we appreciate, for 15 fights he faces only one of the top contenders and he obviously lost the fight, given a DRAW.

Ridiculous post. Sprinting can only be won by completing the race first. A BOXING match can be won by knocking out your opponent or by out boxing your opponent to a points victory. He is incapable of doing this and the time someone didn't get knocked out during a fight, he clearly lost .. deontay wilder is probably the worlds best on an arcade punching machine, however he has already lost to a superior boxer in fury, a recovering drug and alcohol abuser

Bolt had horrible technique though. Bouncy shoulders, bopping head, shocking start technique and explosion. Wilder has God given power and Bolt had God given speed. It doesn't take away from either, sometimes one overwhelming ability can be enough.

It's a silly comparison because (obviously) boxing is far more nuanced. Having that enormous power is a gamechanger, but it's not the only thing that can win someone a boxing match. Usain Bolt is ONLY measuring his sprint speed.

Actually it's a totally stupid comparison. A better one would be to talk about a tennis player who has a limited technique and overall game but a ridiculously powerful serve and forehand.

Lets stop. Bolt is the best ever at his game. Wilder doesn't rate close tot he best 10 heavyweight ever.

Also Bolt faces the best all the time and beats them, something Wilder has never done

I see greatness in his power and greatness in the excitement he is now bringing back to America for HW's. What a thrill to know something about a fight. We KNOW. He can't box, yet the most Wilder fan hater in every fight are secretly thinking to themselves....(damn, just don't get hit by that right hand)!
Damn! He got hit by that right hand with 2 seconds left in round 12....ahead on all score cards:duh

Nah. Because a big reason Wilders getting bailed out in these fights is the level of opposition hes facing. Knocking out mid to low level fighters and then claiming 'if it aint broke dont fix it' as a response to criticism, doesn't address the actual issue and is an impediment to Wilders growth as a fighter.

Wilder wont be the first or last puncher who realizes power alone isnt enough at the top level.

Wilder just hasnt had to fight tough opposition for the most part, to show that.

Brainless comparison. All that is required for a sprinter to be regarded as great, or as in Bolt's case, the greatest - is to beat the clock. It's an objective measure which - unless you wish to cast doubt on the measurement of time - everyone can look at and objectively assess: 9.58secs (Bolt's world record) is better than serial winner Linford Christie's PB of 9.87secs. There is no dispute. No grey area. No wriggle room.

Boxing is a multifaceted (more than one way to skin this cat) subjective sport. Yeah, Wilder knocks out a lot of opponents - although not Fury as you hilariously claim. Yeah, he has crushing power. But the names on his record are pretty lame and, apart from Fury (against whom he officially drew but in the eyes of most people, lost) Wilder hasn't 'got down in the blocks' so to speak with any of his era's best names. Whatever the reasons are for this, it's fact.

The 2nd best name on his resume - an old and past-his-best Ortiz - won more rounds than Wilder did over the two fights, and if you think Wilder let's that happen when he could have chosen to 'play patty cakes' as you so 'expertly' call boxing, then you really do suffer from some serious knowledge deficit.

Let's keep perspective. He's a ATG puncher, a very good HW and a very average boxer. Add all that together and there is no greatness to appreciate. If or when he stops Ruiz, Joshua, Whyte, Uysk and a couple of the up-and-coming talents, his name does not belong in boxing's greatest conversation.

There is no conversation about Bolt - he's too far ahead of all his peers and the greats of the past for their names to be heard...

Hilarious, considering if AJ had went through Wilder, Ruiz, Whyte, Uysk and Fury unscathed, there were people on this forum willing to call him a top ten all-time heavyweight.

Idk if anybody here watches Tennis but Wilder is basically Ivo Karlovic, poor overall game but his serve is the best ever in the sport so he managed to stay relavant and highly ranked throughout his tennis career because of his big serve
