Wilder would be hammered in any other era, he just stands there with a terrible guard relying on his opponent being not up to much and his length, no one really pressures him, they just stand off waiting to get knocked out by a good one trick pony. Ortiz was just as bad standing there instead of pressuring, he could've kept it closer and tried roughing Wilder up more instead of giving Wilder the right range standing off him like that..My conclusion is, Ortiz is a bang average contender NO ****ING BOGEYMAN, and Wilder is a below average skilled Champ with a big dig..**** poor showing for a heavyweight title fight imo..Thoughts ???

Wilders top 10 h2h currently, Ortiz aint worth a wank

Has any heavyweight ever tried just rushing Wilder? Throwing the kitchen sink at him? I don't watch much heavyweight boxing anymore

You don't just rush in on a guy with 1 shot ko power. It's easier said than done.

Ortiz WAS worth something years ago before Wilder fought him. I saw no reason for a rematch with fighter who was past his prime for the first match.

He was capable years ago but still overrated imo. Rematch was pointless I agree

His opponents have been hand picked for a reason every time, protective match making at its finest.

I've not rated Ortiz for a while, he's done nothing but decline and not done anything of note in any fight since Jennings.

Wilder made Ortiz look good again last night.

Fingers crossed we get the Fury fight in February, if not it will be Kownacki followed by another fake PBC boogeyman bum...
    and the charade continues.

Is this how a fight with the southpaw Usyk could go down? I feel Usyk will outbox Wilder badly by putting his southpaw lead leg outside Wilder`s lead leg as Ortiz did here for 7 rounds, but that right hand! Damn!

Yes, Deontay Wilder usually fights old men (or slow boxers) for a reason. Old men slow down, and punch resistance generally becomes weaker as a fighter ages. The truth is, Wilder's opposition makes him look much better than he really is.

Frank Bruno would've destroyed everyone Wilders destroyed bar Fury, that's the level Frank was destroying to build him back up after getting beat by the best

I'm no boxing expert but staying on the outside waiting for him to land that big right hand is not working. Maybe get in close and rough him up?

Mike obliterates him in the first round. Wilder is tailor made for him.

Ortiz looked good last night. He'd beat AJ and give Ruiz a great fight and no one's convincing me otherwise. Wilder beat a big, tough terrific boxer with 1 shot. Give the man some credit

Yeah it seems like everyone just stays in Wilders wheelhouse, looking to box and point fight. Where’s a Holyfield when you need him? You don’t necessarily need to blitz him like a pressure fighter but at least try to smother him so he can’t get those long arms extended. Ortiz was never gonna win a boxing match against Wilder, wrong skill set in my opinion.
