If they fought 10 times you'd get 10 different decisions, but every single time it'd be boring as **** This is the first time in my life that I'm going to say a draw is the most likely outcome.
I like Conn in this one. Curious to hear what people feel Loughran does better than Conn though (and vice versa). What clear advantages does either man have in this one?
Conn is faster both in hand and foot, Loughran has the more polished punching. Conn's stamina is a little more proven under 15 rounds because during Loughran's prime streak he fought in mostly 10-12 round fights That's how I see it anyways
Love these two guys...and yes, I guess I'm a purist...for the defensive, scientific style of boxing. Conn was a bit more committed to throwing more of a variety of punches (both hands)...of "letting his hands go"...whereas Loughran had this "fencer's style" when jabbing and was more conservative (cautious?) with his offensive output. Again, love both guys, but if I must commit myself and go out on a limb, maybe Conn would be a bit more adventerous and would try, in addition to his standard output, the same rough stuff that he used to wear down Bob Pastor....but it wouldn't lead to a ko, rather a close decision would result. Barring a flukish ending ala the Sharkey fight, Tommy was too good to knock out when at his best.
Nah, it would only take one fairly interesting (some would say dull)/scientific bout to convince everyone that Conn was the man.
It is possible I guess? I do like and think highly of Conn. I just have a real hard time picking Pittsburgh to beat Philly! seriously I do like both guys and think it is a very good evenly matched contest going in. I still tip to Loughran but think you can make a solid case towards either man. Interesting that Loughran and Greb were 1-1-2. Why do you think Conn would do better than Greb? Style or something else?
Conn takes this one IMO. He is just as smart, a bit quicker and more likely to let his hands go. If he isn't disciplined though, then yeah I can see him losing.
I think Conn was likely a better Light Heavyweight than Greb, and certainly a very different style. I mean at the same time you could point to his series with Stribling, who I doubt many would pick over Conn. I prefer Conn in footage too TBH, and think his resume is a but stronger personally. I agree that it's close though, and can see a case the other way.
