Ortiz was easily winning rounds without going into hard exchanges. During the knockout wilder hold his left hand on ortiz's face to close his vision, but Ortiz insisted on going forward to pressurize wilder. That was a careless, stupid action. Perhaps wilder was passive all fight just to bait ortiz and it worked. It could have been a totally different result.
Of course he was stupid. Look how relaxed he fought at the end of R7. He literally thought nothing can happen. Stupid ****. Already in the corner with his thoughts. Pathetic lack of concentration and focus. If you fight like that vs. one of the hardest hitting individuals int he game, you deserve to get KTFO...seriously.
He literally smiled at Wilder as the right hand was on it's way to his cranium - foolish, he fought so well up until that point!
Ortiz completely threw it away in the 7th Was 6-0 up and decided in the 7th to completely change tactic. Decided leave his chin in the air. I presume he was looking for a breather and looking to fight only in spurts in that round. He gave Wilder 5 chances to land that right hand, and Wilder did what he does when presented with a free shot on someones chin.
Exactly what happened. When ever Wilder didn't want to be touched by Ortiz left hook, he circled away from it like the first fight. When Wilder realize he could take Ortiz power, he was willing to circle towards Ortiz left hand which would allow Ortiz to throw it more which would cause him to be open for a counter. Wilder has been more patient throwing that straight hand since the Fury fight. He's timing was the key to landing that straight right hand. Notice how he set up the straight right hand that round by pawing that left hand to measuring Ortiz. Once Ortiz got into range, Wilder threw that straight right hand at an angle because Ortiz was squared up. The rest was history!
