Sky Sports is being battered over the John Ryder robbery on YouTube

Corolla and bellew are friends of Smith's. Not impartial at all. Andy should have been impartial but wasn't. The whole rip off was set up. Poor Ryder never stood a chance. The ref, judges, promotion, broadcasting team.... literally everyone connected with the fight were in Smith's corner.
A sky matchroom promotion can never again be trusted or taken at face value.

This has been happening for some time now, Len. We saw it not long ago on the Fitzgerald v Cheeseman card, and countless times before that. If they’re not praising the work that their fighter is doing, they’re highlighting what he’s not doing...instead of praising the other fighter. It’s infuriating.

 

Oh I know well that it's been going on a long time, twentyman. Years and years. It's time it stopped.

 

Needs someone prominent outside of the circle to publicly question O Connor's scoring. What would Ryder need to have done to get a win on O Connor's card? 9-3 to Smith? Ryder could have turned him upside down and inside out and still not got it.

 

Nobody cares though. It’s in everyone’s interest that the ‘house’ fighter wins - the promoters, the broadcasters and the board.

It’s always happened, but the real tipping point came when the broadcasters stopped calling out robberies and became PR extensions of the promotional companies - around the time of boxing’s ‘cold war’ in the States and Sky going exclusively with Matchroom and Warren setting up his own channel here.

Sky, BT, ESPN and Fox are all as bad as each other in the promotional ‘narrative’ and they all make North Korean state TV seem objective most of the time.

 

Then we accept the inevitable and stop whingeing.

It made me laugh when Lee had it 4-4 after 8 and then at the end goes on to say he had Smith by 2, which is saying that he gave Smith at least 1 of the last 2 rounds. Stevie Wonder could see that Ryder won the last 2 rounds of the fight it was that clear and obvious.

 

That means we ca pinpoint the exact time Lee was tapped on the shoulder by Team Sky/match room and reminded on which side his bread is buttered. I’m very disappointed in him I would have expected better from Andy...

 

Yeah but Andy gave Ryder the first two rounds also and there wasn't a hope he won either of them. He didn't land feck all sure. Ryder finished the bout strongly. I had Smith 7-5. I was also up for Ryder pre fight

 

I noticed the same. I commented mid way that Lee is an excellent commentator like him and i had it fairly even after 7-8 (maybe Ryder up by 1). Then Ryder bossed the rest but Lee suddenly turned all bias in favour of Smith . It was quite bizarre to witness.

 

I can only assume he thought Ryder would slow and Smith would take over...when he realised that wasn’t the case it was “oh **** better give him some of these rounds”.

 

Sadly this is how some judges seem to score fights too... Clear example was that the 10th round in Kovalev vs Ward I
