Wilder: "That's how I managed to knock out Ortiz!"

Singular chronicle of the Wbc heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder who in an interview with
MMA Tonight on Sirius XM tells every action every thought that led him to take down Luis Ortiz last Saturday in Las Vegas. The Tuscaloosa giant performs in a sort of slow-motion storytelling where he tries to explain to the fans with what care and determination he knocked the challenger to the seventh round and stresses that everything was the result of careful preparation and a perfect tactical design .You have to practice, you have to have skills and you need to know when it's the perfect time to use it against my opponents with whom I get on the ring- C 'improvisation but much of the merit of the final action is the result of hard work and not only from the muscular point of view. . Even if I start the rounds slowly, as happened last Saturday, there is a reason. I'm careful what my opponent brings to the mat. I am ready for everything that comes my way. I knew the qualities of Ortiz. In the first match I experienced moments of difficulty with him but I learned a lot. At the MGM I had to time more. If we go back to the seventh round, in the last two seconds, he really came out with my masterpiece. I blinded him, hypnotized him with four shots in the face and approached him. I took a step to my left (which was to his right), the fake jab came to my mind and I hit it with my right hand. I knew the corner was perfect because I started to feel it as the shots started

"That's why I tell people that they don't blink when it comes to me that I can calculate everything. I move strategically in the ring and my intellect at that time I use it very heavily. There are people who don't they understand it and today I explained how I can win by knockout.

I believe him. A your opinion on Wilders words..

I don't think he is a smart or calculated fighter but I believe he has adopted a more tactical approach. I think he is all heart to be honest, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, especially when he has the equaliser.

He maniacally trains regarding aim, power and wait..hes got a formidable timing.. if you add the fact his chin is however good the result is a smart one trick pony hard to defeat.

People can mock all they want, yet he is still winning. You can have all the skills in the world, but if a KO artist of Wilder's caliber finds your chin flush even once, all those skills mean diddly-squat. That's what's so beautiful about this sport.

Lmao Wilder has the ring IQ of a fish

Ring dominance isn't something Wilder does well, if it was he wouldn't lose so many rounds.
Wilder's strengths are his blinding speed, brute strength, size and instant sleeper touch. He has excellent straight punches, a good jab and showed last week that he can actually develop (with his left hook).

Wilder also showed vs Molina that his left is nothing to s****** at, he also has developed immaculate timing and a very admirable judgement of distance.

He isn't as one dimensional as people make out, but make no mistake, he's winning fights because he's a physical phenom, not a tactical master.

Wilder needs to be careful more then smart , his limited skills WONT allow him to do much but wait for openings with most fights , if not an early K.O his fights always see him struggling bad and that's NOT a sign of a guy going to win long term consistently ( HE LOST in his 8th defense ) against REAL opponents he should be fighting.

Wilder can gage weaknesses the longer the fight goes so fighters needs to be aware of it and when he actually fights an all around skilled power puncher ,Wilder is going to be at his most vulnerable to a loss. THAT HASNT HAPPENED YET even with a paper trail of over 120 million in offers to try...……...lol

You are close! Wilder is the opposite of smart. He wins by fighting bums and knocking them out. That’s it. He’s about as dumb as it gets except for the fact that he’s convinced idiots he’s better than he actually is. His matchmaking skills are very good. Every opponent is carefully selected to make him look good. The guy has been a pro for years and has fought the lowest leave of opposition of any top HW. He’s a genius I guess because he’s made a lot of money fighting easy opponents with slim chances of winning. Maybe he is smart. No shortage of stupid people willing to believe the BS his team is spewing.

Never appreciated Wilders style but better a fighter like him with a poor technique than one like Fury who knocks nobody out.

If Wilder was any less smart he would have to remember to breathe.

It will be interesting to see what is ahead. The person to defeat him will most likely do it by ko. IMO. However, it could happen in other ways. Could be that a Usyk takes him into deep waters and wins the majority of rounds and gets a ud. Could be movement, body shots and infighting that topples him. I just don't want it to be age. Someone has his number. His resume is weak. One may come along with just the right group of attributes, movement, strategy, chin, pop and will. After that a rematch. a second defeat. That is what I think will happen. However, the clock is ticking. Never will I buy into this best boxer in the universe nonsense.
