A large collection this week! Alexis Arguello vs Aaron Pryor Ray Mancini vs Deuk-Koo Kim Lupe Pintor vs Wilfredo Gomez Rolando Navarrete vs Chang II Choi Salvador Sanchez vs Azumah Nelson Frank Fletcher vs James Green What a bunch! Is this even allowed? Eh we're making up for a few weeks here so... Regardless, how do we all score this collection of classics from what is quite possibly the greatest year in boxing history? Standard Reminder Oh also, special thanks to @The Morlocks for his list in the Chacon-Limon FOTW, pretty much gave me some extra choices I would've been oblivious to, so I thought I'd put your favourite in. My My! This may definitely be a 'week' of endeavors. I'll get round to watching at least one (probably Mancini vs Kim again)! Nice thread George. Some great bouts here.
What's this? New scorecards! Alexis Arguello vs Aaron Pryor Rd - Pyror : Arguello (Total) 1. 10 : 9 (10-9) 2. 9 : 10 (19-19) 3. 10 : 9 (29-28) 4. 10 : 9 (39-37) 5. 9 : 10 (48-47) 6. 10 : 9 (58-56) 7. 10 : 9 (68-65) 8. 10 : 9 (78-74) 9. 10 : 9 (88-83) 10. 10 : 9 (98-92) 11. 9 : 10 (107-102) 12. 10 : 9 (117-111) 13. 9 : 10 This content is protected Pryor wins by 14th round TKO. Great action packed fight, under appreciated imo. Both fought their heart even with the controversy. Pryor was a spanner, Alexis was a badass. Pryor swept the middle rounds with his aggression, which Alexis just couldn't keep up with imo.
****ing awesome George!! Great job. Any other yr, any of these fights would be fight of the yr. A fight fans wet dream.
You're not going to believe this, but I just scored Arguello vs Pryor I (& II), Mancini vs Kim, Pintor vs Gomez & Sanchez vs Nelson this week lmao. I'll watch them again though as Arguello is probably my all time favorite fighter along with MAB, Hagler, Tapia, Gatti & Ward. So...do we set a time ans watch them at the same time or, just at your leisure and then compare? Is there a time limit?
Just put your scores in and wait for questions, I'll ask them should we disagree if no one else does. Well played, all classics. I've watched the first 3 for the sake of this thread.
What a year it was 1982 following The Animal, going to his fights and all year rocking out to "Back In Black" on the way to his fights. With the right music on and with the DVD of his fights in the player, I swear I can close my eyes and be back at The Sands again. ****in Hard Rock vs. The Animal. A monster movie. Let's journey back....somebody get me another beer and a dog before Fletcher enters to "Physical"!
RightO, thanks for recommending this to me! This is much more my speed than the prediction contests, those are fun to but a bit too much to keep up with.
Ray Mancini vs Deuk-Koo Kim Rd - Mancini : Kim (Total) 1. 9 : 10 (9-10) 2. 9 : 10 (18-20) 3. 9 : 10 (27-30) 4. 9 : 10 (36-40) 5. 10 : 9 (46-49) 6. 9 : 10 (55-59) 7. 10 : 9 (65-68) 8. 10 : 9 (75-77) 9. 9 : 10 (84-87) 10. 9 : 10[-1] (93-96) 11. 10 : 9 (103-105) 12. 10 : 9 (113-114) 13. 10 : 9 This content is protected Mancini wins by 14th round KO. Great fight, obviously a tragic ending. Shame to see, at least Kim's memory lives on with people knowing and seeing he fought his heart out till the very end.
Just watched it. Man I loved that ****in fighter!" We walked out of there talkin **** baby! He was a beast that day. I knew how good Hagler was, but I was certain the rage and uncompromising fearlessness and style of The Animal would prevail. 3 ****in years culminating in this victory over Green. It seemed preordained that Frank would upset Marvin! What a great, great day..
I am not convinced he can count to 10 anymore...this is likely as close as you will get from this guy!
How you feeling about this one? You gonna try and get these done? I know you Sanchez vs Nelson is your fav and you did Choi vs Navarrete the other day/week.
