I might choose to root for or against someone in a sporting event for any of a thousand reasons.

To hate someone I've never met who hasn't done anything to me -- nor done any real harm to anyone as far as I know -- I cannot even fathom how that works. To revel and glee over something because two guys got into a stupid/silly shoving match (do you even watch boxing? that kinda stuff happens all the time between fighters, camp members, hangers-on, etc.) is just beyond my comprehension.

I understand getting invested in major stars/figures/contenders/champs/personalities. This is a guy no one would have ever heard of if it wasn't for his brother. And you know that's why most people who cared about this at all got gleeful over the result.
