That's optimistic. Elite guys recover from shots like that all the time. Concussion is no more a hindrance than a broken jaw or a closed eye. The best fighters hang in there, recover and allow instinct to get them through the fight. AJ had plenty of time to gather himself.

AJ didn't recover because his questionable punch resistence and stamina didn't allow him to. His instinct isn't that of a seasoned fighter because he isn't one. Yes he tried his best to stay in there, but his best wasn't good enough on the night.

I'm not saying he can't win the rematch. I think his stamina will be improved, as will his head movement and patience. However, if he gets caught big again, watch him revert to type.

    As per the poll...

I would like Joshua to go out there and blast him out. I think that’s his best chance however I’ve voted Joshua on points. I do believe it was somewhat of a freak punch that left him concussed and not knowing where he was for the majority of the fight. If he’s going to do this on the back foot he’s going to have to be punch perfect.

    it’s a great fight.

Joshua gets caught by another 20-30 punches from the gods to his head which - amazingly - messes up his equilibrium and he quits again citing unfair religious favourtism.

That simply isn't true. Broken Jaw - means you'll struggle to speak, will be in pain and punches will hurt more when they land. However you still have full control of your senses, can box and move etc etc. Ricky Burns did for however many rounds against Beltran. Would you call him the best fighter? Closed eye is similar, vision is impacted obviously, but generally it is extra pain. Most boxers deal well with pain given the amount of resistance training they do.

Concussion is a completely different beast. You feel groggy, you feel physically sick, your eyesight can be blurry, your hearing off, your balance off - the amount of side effects that AJ may or may not had if he was concussed in the third round would potentially mean he was on serious borrowed time after that.

Fighters get concussion all the time. They're taking repeated blows to the head ffs. We just don't hear about it because most fighters don't make excuses.

Joshua on points in cautious, tense affair. Box tall and straight..Has to meet Ruiz's raids with straight shots and try and pick him apart.
Ruiz will try and ambush and apply pressure but if Joshua can take the center of the ring he can force Ruiz back

Problem for me is Ruiz stamina and hand speed they just might be AJ's Kryptonite

What time is the fight in the UK

How good is Ruiz's gas tank? If he's fresh 6-12 AJ is 100% screwed.

It's better than Joshua's at abase level - He's won fights on points over 8 and 10 round and lost a close one Vs Parker over 12.
Joshua has to put a dent in him, wear him down lean on him and stop his raids. He's got to control the pace of the fight. Otherwise Ruiz will ambush and swarm and throw volume and probably wins in similar fashion to last time.

Amazing how sky season ticket holders will repeat verbatim whatever "Eddie Hearns says..."

I've never heard the "was hurt by a punch otherwise would have won" excuse parroted so widely before

Some people need a reason for the loss. Lucky punch, concussion, bad sparring, panic attack etc. I suppose it can be difficult to admit someone might just have been better or stronger.

I think Joshua will go out there , run out if ideas and just be happy not to get knocked out then get beat on points.

I hope I am wrong, we need him to win for the division to be exciting.

I think Ruiz will get the job done quicker, he will have more confidence. Which can be the way with rematches like this, when a fighter knows he can hurt and finish his opponent. I’m ready to give Joshua a massive amount of credit if he pulls this off, as everything I’ve seen leading up to this makes me think he won’t win this.

How is that getting out of camp? Is it just a rumour?
