Well there were two titles, WBA and WBC. He was technically a 4 time WBA champ, as he was stripped of it for the Liston rematch (I think?), and regained it when he beat Terrel.
I think Ali is the greatest HW of all time, without consideration for the media, movies or general opinions. What defines a great fighter is the quality of his opponents. Ali had great level of adversity. Fastest hands, great defensive, best footwork, amazing ring generalship, great chin and power. I think prime Ali beats all heavyweights today. Frazier was better than Tyson (one of the most overrated HW of all time IMO). Wlad lost to many doubtful contenders, he had a decade of domination because of his super size but then lately lost to Joshua who lost to Ruiz. Lewis was too slow for Ali. Ali was big and tall enough to compete against super heavyweights at 6'3.
