Louis fights the following in title defenses:

    Frank Bruno
    Old Foreman
    Old Holmes
    Michael Moorer
    Alex Stewart
    Oliver McCall
    Hasim Rahman
    Ray Mercer

Could he make it through that gauntlet undefeated?

Yeah I think he beats them all. Old Holmes would try to lull him to sleep but at that stage Larry didn't have the activity level to actually win. Mercer and McCall would get the sh it beat out of them. Rachman doesn't go 3. Old Man Foreman would be dangerous but ultimately too slow. He wouldn't be able to pull the trigger enough.
    Moorer gets stretched.

Because for one, the standard imho, is higher than during his reign, and its partly his own fault. During his time he was the boxer using a systematic, modern approach, and it paid off in spades for him. Since then people have seen how he operated and emulated his techniques, eg, working from behind a jab, keeping feet planted and set for power, combination punching etc.

The lineup that you posted is high level enough and diverse enough to almost guarantee that he receives a loss if not two somewhere along the line, whether it be to stylistic considerations (eg Holmes, Moorer) or physical ones (eg McCall, Foreman). A guy like Rahman or Bruno can hit hard enough to cave Louis in, and it might not even be that much of a lucky punch. I think I'd favour either over Galento or Baer, let's put it like that.

You could argue that he ought to be favoured in each matchup - and I might buy that - but eventually the law of averages dictates you're going to lose one.

Mercer & Holmes gives him the most trouble. I think he beats everyone else.

It's not whether he beats all of them, to me that's not even a question. Does anyone go the 15 round distance is a better one
