He did what he had to do and won and it is hard to dislike the guy but at stages of the fight he was like a Klitschko clone.

There was plenty of jab and grab and at one point in the 7th or 8th he even did the Klitschko “both arms held out in front” move.

Don’t blame him for doing what he did and he was more fluid than Klitschko but I hope he doesn’t do a full jab and grab from here onwards.

It's been Intriguing to watch him change it up for this fight, he missed a lot of right hands tonight, got the timing and accuracy way off as he threw the right and ducked as he went in to evade ruiz countering, missed a whack of those rights. and when he was trying to clinch he was grabbing under the arms leaving ruiz get a shot or two in. Needs a little more work on clinching like a pro yet.. Lol

AJ is becoming a more complete fighter. tonight we saw the evolution of Joshua. this was AJ 2.0... Just like Klitschko had stages of his career... Joshua will keep getting better and better. he needed that L against Ruiz. it only helped him

    It's just one fight.

He'll go back to crackin skulls in his next fight.

Ruiz has unusual punch resistance and handspeed that necessitated this game plan.

For Joshua, this style is another string to his bow if he needs it.

My prediction was correct. AJ beat Ruiz by decisions in the rematch. Ruiz's life enjoyment is over now.

Joshua was note perfect in his game plan. You have to give him big credit for that regardless of how poor Ruiz was.

Mines was wrong. I called it a SD decision for Ruiz. Didn't think this would be a KO because I kept alluding the fact AJ took equilibrium shots that changed the game for him. Anyways Congrats on a correct pick.

Has anyone seen a pic of the official scorecards for the fight? Curious which second round each of the two judges gave Ruiz.

I always said that the Klitschko blueprint was the way to beat Ruiz. Andy blew it with his snickers gameplan.

Wlad did advise him on how to fight Ruiz, so not surprising.
Yeah, avenging a KO loss by UD is not that great, add to that the shape and state of Ruiz and it looks even worse but I see it as a step up for AJ.
We knew he got skills, now we know he has discipline to follow a game plan and, even if his performance wasn’t viewer-friendly, he was able to do exactly what he was meant to do to win - fight tall and use the bloody jab to keep distance, fighting up close or exchanging would be playing to Andy’s strenghts again.

Anthony Klitchko has a ring to it too, lol.

Exactly, he’s not a one trick pony like certain Deontay Wilders, who I shall not name. Ability to realise what needs to be done against different opponents and actually delivering that thing is an important part of ones boxing game.

As Chisora said, AJ took away Ruiz double jab and it was game over. AJ jabbed and moved excellently, occasionally he would check hook and follow this up with powerful right. The majority of the top HWs would have been stopped by several of these Powerful rights AJ landed but Ruiz showed just how tough he is but he was totally out boxed tonight.

It was a very good performance out of wladimirs blueprint against shorter fighters (wlad is the greatest heavyweight against shorter fighters ever)
It was clear to see that wlad helped Joshua in the preparation with gameplan, tactics and conditioning.
But we have to be honest, joshua looked way better with 239 pounds than the heavy joshua. He moved very good and had good stamina till the end of the fight.
But his jab has to get better, his left hook also and his right hand. His timing and distance anticipation is also not on point. His clinching is also not on point. His footwork got really better. Just compare it to wlad when he was at his prime (31 till 36).
Wlad was on a whole other level and I am 100% he would ko prime joshua at his prime.
But joshua is as close as possible to wlad today at the heavy division. And I tell you guys, he will ko wilder early!!! Joshua can counterpunch, has fast and extremely heavy hands and is great at infighting. Wilder is a right hand one trick pony.
But I am also betting that fury would outbox joshua quite easily and usyk will ko joshua late.
After all is said and done I have build my opinion that THE fight for the kingpin is fury vs usyk

Thanks. Predictions can be right or wrong. I don't take them seriously.
