A victory over the fourth best Heavyweight would do wonders for his career and let's face it, if he can't get past Andy he has no business in this division.

Ruiz is no longer a relevant hw for me. Exact same as Buster Douglas after Holyfield.

I would not call Ruiz irrevelant at all, but it is clear that he is not able to close the distance effectively when presented with a tall, mobile fighter that sticks to that gameplan. He has very little head movement on the outside and not a tight guard, so he catches everything with his face coming in. Even if he had slimmed down for this fight, the results would have likely been the same. Tyson Fury would be a nightmare matchup for him in particular.

Ruiz will never have a fight with more potential upside than this, yet he comes in obese. All that crap at the end of 'I'll come in a different Andy Ruiz in the third fight' is rubbish. Honestly no different from fat Buster. I'd be amazed if he weighs under 280 again for a fight. If you can't get up for this, with the potential to earn 5 times as much with a win, not to mention the chance to unify with Wilder, then it's clear that he achieved his dream winning the first fight, and the drive is gone.

It was Douglas/Tyson all over again. Ruiz wasnt supposed to have a chance but he surprised everyone like Douglas did & legitimately kicked AJ's butt. Sudden fame & $$$$$
went to his head he thought he was unbeatable. It's easy to ridicule them but just think honestly what would you do ?

Ruiz's world will come crashing down now. Everyone only loves a winner, no one loves a looser. All the hanger ons will desert him

He still has tonnes of money to blow. When the money leaves him, then his crew disappears. I don't think this loss will even affect Ruiz that much. If the fight and status as champion was so important he would at least have made a better effort.

An AJ loss would have been destructive. Ruiz will probaby return to fighting unknown cans and living a more regular life now, which he has done for most of his life

I doubt he was eating tofu and veggie patties going into the 1st fight because there weren't cameras following him around then. I won't blame his loss on food.

This thread just reminded me...wasn't there some other thread claiming he was in great shape losing weight ?!?!:meparto::pancarta:

Ruiz waddling around not letting his hands go and Joshua saying before the fight that it would definitely be a Trilogy seems fishy to me!
