one thing came out of late nights fight is that Antony Joshua was scared to death to go toe to toe with a guy who realistically had one great night in June. Hats off to Joshua for deciding to jab and run all night and avoid a brawl because it’s looks like every time Ruiz connected Joshua’s legs wobbled abit. Joshua may have won the titles again but this myth about him being true boxing warrior has been shattered and everyone will now be queuing up take him on . Last word on Ruiz jnr is that he won the title fair and square because Joshua cane to fight and I’m glad he had his 15 mins of fame in June. Think wilder will be rubbing his hands for Joshua and all these new heavyweights will be laughing ..

Yes thats why Joshua will never be GOAT because he can't take a punch. Fury would clown him and Wilder win by brutal KTFO.

I'm not sure if anyone will have the time or patience to unpick all the stupidity in this thread.

I agree completely. The fight was embarrassing. Imagine being scared of someone 50 lbs fatter, shorter, someone who probably didnt even bother training hard and running and jabbing because you are scared he will drop you again

Joshua was more concerned at looking at his ultra lean physique, than fighting what was standing in front of him! Did you see him jogging around the ring, not wanting to get close to the blob and posing to the cameras after every half punch that landed! I thought he was making a boxing film, with the lack of in fighting and choreographed poses he was doing! lol

The whole point of boxing, where there are rules and discipline, as opposed to street fighting where anything goes, is to take advantage of your strengths and nullify your opponents strengths as well as mitigate as best you can any weaknesses you possess.

AJ felt it was dangerous to trade so he decided to box at range, a strength of his due to size, and it was up to Ruiz to find a way to stop him whilst using his advantage as effectively as possible...and he couldn't do it.

When one guy is noticeably taller and with a longer reach he should use that to his advantage and frustrate the smaller guy at range.

To give up that advantage isn't smart and isn't what the sport is about.

Joshua learnt from the first fight, and I think he showed a lot of mental strength to go in so quickly after such a loss; it could have gone very wrong and he would have nowhere to go.

Ruiz, who never seemed to me be this humble everyman that others thought he was, thought he could just do it again, same as before, and that in itself shows he's not very smart.

Personally, I've never felt Ruiz was very good, and I think this exposes him for what he is...a game, solid top 10 heavyweight; but a seasoned pro with potential to be a champion again, with guile and savvy who can find a way to win, in my opinion, he isn't.

At least Wilder, who i don't think is half as good as he (or his fanboys) think he is, finds a way to pull it out of the bag (Fury aside) and get the win even if it isn't always pretty or convincing.

If Ruiz doesn't take this more seriously next time he will end up a top 20 gatekeeper type, like a Chisora; who is never good enough to really challenge for and sustain title ambitions, but is better than a lot of guys coming through...putting him in a sort of no mans land.

P.S Joshua should make him grovel, publicly, for the rematch.

He fought smart and won, got some revenge to an extent, but by no means gave Ruiz a full payback. He controlled his ego and fought with discipline and I give him credit for that. Now I hope he fights Wilder.....whoever lands the big one first wins!? Very exciting...

AJ boxed at range fair enough and got the decision.but I was surprised how fearful he looked .He didn't seem to have any devil in his work Holmes Ali and others like the truth Williams would work behind the jab and move but as the fight went on start to bust the opponents up .AJ has lost his bottle I think .I can't see him doing any good in future he is finished .

Joshua has a confidence problem, and fought the way he did to avoid getting hit. Wilder fights the same way, except he can't box and relies on a long right hand to end it. Both these guys have iffy chins, you'll see as soon as Wilder fights a contender in his prime with power and ability.

This thread is moronic. What would’ve been even more moronic than this thread is Joshua going toe to toe and brawl with a guy who would’ve wanted exactly that. The state of some posters.

Yes, he boxed afraid and boring. I wonder if Arabs will want to foot the money again for this snooze fest.

AJ already has millions upon millions and could walk of into the sunset at any point

Instead, after his first loss, he got back in the gym immediately and corrected every mistake.

He then went on to show the world where he went wrong and boxed Ruiz's ears off

KO or no KO, AJ is a full blown warrior, and this fight more than others shows his dedication to the sport, the fight was won in the gym.

    Haters can suck it.
