Ruiz operates very well at the range Marciano required and he has far, far faster hands. He will definitely lay punishment on the Rock. And even morbidly obese, he is able to keep pursuing and throw. A slightly more svelte version of Ruiz (I assume we are talking prime v prime) should be able to keep up.

I see a close decision favoring Ruiz because of a KD.

I think the pressure Marciano puts on Ruiz would break him down and get a late stoppage depending on the pace. If it star ts fast it may end faster but other than Joshua who else of quality did Ruiz stop or beat? Marciano by RSC by the 12th

even the better version of Ruiz had too much belly target- I still want to see Ruiz in with someone who bangs to the body - Ortiz and Povetkin do that occasionally

due to what I know of this forum and it’s Marciano hate (and I am not really even a fan, but I can still distinguish his greatness) I am shocked he is winning this poll!

The speed and weight of Ruiz's combos will put a man of Marciano's size on the floor. Its not scientifically possible for Rocky to walk through combinations thrown with the weight of a 260+ man behind them , and at least one of those punches in bunches he won't see coming.
Horrible match-up for Rocky. The weight of Andys arms alone would knock him backwards.

When ever your size queen fantasy ends please join us back in reality where Barbados Joe Walcott beat 200+lbs men, Jack Sharkey outboxed the hell out of Carnera, Tom Sharkey stood toe to toe with James J Jeffries and the best punchers ever were all 180-235lbs. Ruiz doesn't even hit as hard as Walcott IMO

Weight matters but it's not the end all be all.

If Marciano was around now, I'd pick Ruiz to win seeing as Marciano would be 96 years old.

Given how many people in this forum seem to think that ATG fighters have super powers, I'm surprised its even close, tbh.

I DON'T KNOW WHY SIZE QUEENS EVEN COME TO CLASSIC TO DEBATE. IF BY SIZE YOU CAN IGNORE THE FIRST 130 YRS OF THE SPORT THEN WHY NOT IGNORE HISTORY AND ARGUE IN GENERAL FORUM??

Rocky Marciano wins this one by stoppage in round 7, Marciano in much better shape, and has way more stamina. Rocky would not be intimidated by Andy Ruiz's appearance, or his tattooed body. Marciano concentrates on pounding Andy's midriff, this affects the short stamina that Andy has. Marciano crashes home a very hard right hand to the jaw of Andy. Ruiz crashes to the canvas hard, causing the ring to shake, and Ruiz is counted out.

Ruiz is durable, with faster hands, straighter punches, a tighter defensive guard, and better counter-punching skills. He also has a significant reach advantage and probably has a much better jab. Even with his limited volume, he would be one of the more dangerous punchers Marciano ever faced, and he's got a good enough chin and overall size to stand his ground during exchanges with Marciano.

His main weaknesses are his limited footspeed, below-average size (relative to today's top heavies), and some technical flaws he exhibits when he attempts to close distance on bigger, more mobile men (limited head movement at times, stands too tall while coming in, etc.). I don't see how any of these limitations will present serious challenges against a fighter with Marciano's style and dimensions. I see Marciano taking the fight to Ruiz and Ruiz landing a ton of fast, hard punches on him.

Not sure he did TBH. Though he did draw with Sandy Ferguson

lol at calling me out for peddling a fantasy , when you have NEVER seen Barbados beat a 200+lbs man in your entire life.

You don't have the foggiest notion how good those guys were. Most if not all were a bunch of stumbling drunks. Part timers who sucked on cigarettes between rounds.

At least I know how good any Ruiz is cos I seen him with my own eyes. His skills are refined and not easily exploitable like the guys who still boxed like they did during the broughton rules days.

Your entire argument is based on fantasy , not mine.

Ruiz would turn a little guy like Barbodos Walcot into dust..

    next.

I think Ruiz starts well but won't be able to stay the course. I suspect that the correct call is a Marciano UD, where Ruiz is game but degraded in the second half of the fight and ships a ton of punches. It seems that Ruiz has a great chin, he might well see the end.

The only verified men that Walcott fought who were 200lbs + were the very moderate Fred Russell 14-7-2 who drew with him, and Sandy Ferguson who beat him. There is no weight given for the other Ferguson fight.
Carnera was not that good a fighter. It's not about how good the smaller guys are as punchers, it's about can they absorb the punches from men nearly 100lbs heavier who can punch hard?
    Sharkey conceded 27lbs to Jeffries.
Marciano would be conceding around 75lbs to Ruiz!
    Big Difference!
