He will reign for a decade like Wlad did . He’s learnt now . The only times he’s ever had bad moments is after he hurt an opponent and tried to finish them off , gassing himself out in process . He hurt Whyte and tried to finish him , he got gassed then hurt . He hurt Wlad and tried to finish him , he gassed and got dropped. He hurt Ruiz and tried to finish him , he gassed and got stopped . Any time he actually just used safety first approach, conserving his energy , he’s won easy . See Parker and Ruiz 2. He’s a complete boxer unlike Fury as he also has world class power to keep his opponents honest . How the hell is Wilder supposed to box with Aj and get close enough to land his right with that ramrod powerful jab in his face ? An old, smaller , lighter punching , Ortiz made him gun shy , and Ortiz was even walking forward into Wilders wheelhouse. If Aj makes Wilder come forward he will have no chance. Wilder fans , what’s your rebuttal ?
Fury can box his head off. Pot shot him from angles to a boring 12-0 decision that ends up being given to Fury 7-5.
Got a way to go before he is at Wlad level.. Wlad would have squashed that fat blob into the ground every time he held on...
If Joshua fights like that against Wilder he's getting his head smashed in. He's not going to beat Wilder at long range and fighting that timid. If Joshua fights Fury that way, he is getting a schooling. He's not going to outbox the boxer.
This certainly had the feeling of a coming of age fight for him, in terms of his ability as a back foot fighter. He was leagues better last weekend than he had ever looked against other smaller fighters like Parker or Povetkin. Far more composed, far more defensively aware and far more accurate. It's also the best I've ever seen him feint, which played a big role in negating Ruiz's impressive parrying ability. But he's still streets behind Wlad was in that regard, and I hope it doesn't become his primary game plan. It's hardly conducive to an entertaining fight and I don't think it will help him against Fury or Wilder.
How did that work out for Ortiz? DW does not care about losing rounds hes looking to knock you out. DW always has the ultimate punchers chance. My rebuttal is youre absolutely right in your premise. AJ should be able to box DW ears off. Problem is DW is a lot longer , quicker and taller than Ruiz and will be able to counter AJ because of it unlike Ruiz who was to fat to get passed the jab. AJ needs to finish DW asap. He will not be able to do what Fury did for 12 rounds who by the way nearly got KOd twice. AJ is still very hittable but he new how to take advantage of his size this time around, an advantage he will not have against DW. AJ didnt look good in the couple exchanges he had with Ruiz. I still think DW knocks him out.
Nowhere near the level of Wlad K. Not even close. He clinches like a novice, he was hit every time he clinched! He has no reflexes and no flow, quite clumsy and fragile.
