Right, so how was it discovered he had drugs in his system? AJ's resume is deeper, I'm not disputing that. Although Whyte wasn't a prime top 10 when they fought and hardly anyone had Ruiz in their top 10 either. What I am disputing is this nonsense about Povetkin. He was past prime when AJ fought him just like Wlad was but yet all the threads I see are bout Ortiz's being old. It isn't consistent
I just realized that it was a mandatory fight. Yeah I wish Wilder would have made that fight by now then
Wilder fought 60 year old Ortiz not once but twice even after he failed multiple drugs tests but he won't fight Povetkin even after he was cleared. Wilder is terrified of Povetkn, he knows the left hook will KTFO of him
The meldonium in Povetkin's system was well below the permissible threshold. Let me repeat: it was below the threshold. The amount detected was so fantastically low that it could have no functional effect whatsoever. Furthermore, meldonium is a weak-sauce 'drug' in the first place, over-the-counter stuff that moms give their kids to pep them up for their homework. Visions of Ivan Drago getting steroids injected into his heart or some **** have no place in this scenario. The WBC and fight organisers as well as regulatory organisations were ok with the fight proceeding ... This content is protected that jumped on the first plane back and forced the issue.
No they weren’t. It was WBC that delayed the fight. https://www.ringtv.com/422271-the-wbc-decides-to-postpone-wilder-vs-povetkin-in-moscow/ Yes, there was an acceptable limit for meldonium at the time, because It was banned just a few months back. The amount in Povetkin’s blood was within the acceptable amount, but there was an asteriks. He had several negative tests before the positive one. It was impossible to know for sure whether he took it when It was legal or took it during the training camp, when It was illegal. So, to run an investigation and delay the fight was the right decision. I was backing Povetkin and rooting for him to beat Wilder at the time, but what you said is factually incorrect.
The anti-GGG lunacy around here when I first joined turned me into a GGG supporter, now the same thing is happening with Wilder. I mean, many here(including some credible posters) are willing to go to so extreme lengths that It’s baffling. He’s fighting Tyson Fury next, the man who already unofficially beat him and the #1 HW in the world according to The Ring. Yet they’re still claiming that he’s cherrypicking(he was for a long time, not anymore) and that he needs to face the likes of washed up Povetkin who’s coming off of a draw against a cruiser or obese Ruiz who just got dominated, fighters who are vastly inferior to Fury at this stage. And they’re doing that in the same breath as saying that Fury dominated and clowned. Like, how can you possibly cherrypick a guy who already beat and clowned you?
Allow me to insist: "Wilder and his team have been in Sheffield, England, for the past two weeks training and adjusting to several hours of time difference. This content is protected , a member of Wilder's team told ESPN.com. This content is protected with the titleholder preparing to return home, announced the fight was off and called it a postponement." https://abc7news.com/sports/deontay-wilder-alexander-povetkin-title-fight-postponed/1339813/ This content is protected The WBC was in a corner. Povetkin was almost 7 times under the limit for the maximum allowable amount. The fight should have gone on. I have no doubt that with how faded Povetkin looks today, that Wilder would face him NOW.
Agree with absolutely every ounce of this post. The sheer amount of spin, talking in circles and flat-out propagandizing they go through to discredit Wilder is stunning. All the while saying he's not a threat and he's a joke. Clearly the amount of time he spends taking up residence in their heads dominating their every thought betrays them and reveals the truth. Wilder mortifies them all.
Povetkin was the unluckiest man in the world because he got set up and would have won the title on home soil. What happened is undefendable and because he is Russian nothing too much was made of it.. The WBC should have stripped Wilder because he decided based on rumour to leave before any officials has even made any decision.. The WBC didn't because they were not interested in a Russian HW Champ... All a total set up but not surprising at all...
