Honestly more likely AJ took a dive in the first fight so they could have a mega return fight netting AJ 85 million quid.

This is why he was acting so strange in the first fight because he had conflicting emotions about losing..

Think about it AJ get to fight a easy fat blob twice and earns as much as he would have fighting Wilder with no real risk, plus now he still has the Wilder and Fury fights which will ear him similar money...

That's a much better strategy then Canelo's where he picks deteriorated fighters and beats them and remains undefeated.

If it was true then boxing would become a fake sport and nobody would watch it anymore. Boxing fans all over the world would turn to watch MMA, Kick Boxing, Muay Thai, and Kung Fu instead.

 

Im just saying AJ didn’t need to bribe him, no version of Ruiz beats AJ from last weekend. He’s too big and if he fights smart, doesn’t give the smaller guy an opening to exploit. Plus, how much could he bribe him? Not as much as Ruiz would get for the next fight if he won. There is not enough of a financial incentive for Ruiz to lose the fight. If AJ fights the same fight he beats Ruiz 100/100 times.

 

A distinct possibility although I think any guy in a hippo mascot suit would of done a decent job.

On topic though, does the OP know that boxing matches aren't winner takes all affairs right? The loser of the fight still gets paid so yes in that sense Ruiz was paid to lose.
