The Eubanks over in the US trying to con US boxing platform and casual fans in to believing he has something to offer. The biggest mistake Eubank Jr made was not staying with Hearn, for all Hearns faults (and there are plenty) he would have made him millions and millions of pounds. Sr has effectively ruined Jrs career and probably his long term reputation by insisting on unrealistic money and power and in a few years when it's all over and Sr has helped him blow his money just like he blew his own... Jr will regret doing it his fathers way. It's beating Charlo or bust now.. he loses to Charlo and I believe it's pretty much over for him, or at the very best a long road back.
He'd lost the first round clearly, yes, but no one prior thought Eubank is a better boxer than Matvey. Eubank's strategy was always to plough forward and grind down the better boxer. Freak injury stopped that. There's no telling how the fight would have gone just from that one and a bit rounds
Absolutely. Although perhaps a little concerning that Matvey had already found his range against Jr THAT quickly. Couple of flash KD's like Groves got against him and he'd have had an awful lot of work to do. The more I watch Jr, the more I realise pulling out of that GGG fight was a very very smart move for him. Groves outboxed him just as GGG would have, difference being GGG would have opted to put a much harsher beating on him.
Can't take much from one round lets be honest - shame it had to end like that and so early for both men.
groves stayed in there for twelve with the young war machine and it ended his career. Korobov quitting after two probably saved his career.
He's always been a slow starter and one round proves nothing, unless we want to go forward with single round matches?
Agree re: GGG, he’d have been relentless. As for the first round I still don’t get the big deal. He got caught with a few left hands but nothing monstrous. He lost the round but it wasn’t like he wasn’t in it. He often starts slow and Korobov is a good boxer renowned for fading down the stretch.
I disagree he got caught with several flush lefts, he got caught by a double left that he definitely felt by his reaction. Like Paddy already said, it was the fact Korobov found his range so quickly that was worrying.
You make it sound as if he's good enough or has been good enough. He's not and never was, never will be. He can't box...
yeah didn’t you realise boxing is scored (by internet) based on if you lose at least one round on points before winning by KO, you actually LOSE wilder is 0-41
