From Whyte's interview to Sky Sports:

"I would definitely love that to be my next fight, 100 per cent.

He's tough, he's got fast hands. He's an Olympic gold medallist, a former world champion.

It's another great experience fight for me because I'm still inexperienced. I would love this as my next fight in March.

We would trade. Povetkin is a very good fighter because he does little things with his sharp hands. There wouldn't be any running or moving - we're two guys who would be trading until one of us get decked!"

I dont know man, I don't see the point of this to be honest. Just for some more loot? Why waste time fighting yet more contenders, it's not like he cant beat Povetkin... he would 100% beat povetkin.

But he needs to prepare for a titleshot. He fully deserves a titleshot.

Let’s be realistic though mate, he isn’t getting that title shot until the end of 2020 at the earliest. He NEEDS a big fight in between all that in order to stay motivated, keep him in the gym and keep his weight down. He needs to get the ball rolling again to be in the best mental place for his title shot.

I’d love to see the Povetkin right.

Yeah I thought that too mate, just wanted Whyte to be healthy and fit for a titleshot rather than sustaining any damage or injuries from a war with Povetkin.

It's all uneeded mileage IMO prior to getting your first titleshot... but fair play, hopefully he does get one in 2020

I wanna see Whyte come in at 245 pounds for that fight.

Yes, he deserves it. But he probably feels he would lack motivation fighting guys like say Gerald Washington while waiting for the Wilder vs Fury winner to fight him.

Oh yeah definitely... like if he had to take a fight that aint a titleshot I wouldnt recommend anything less than the calibre of Povetkin.

Thats how he got better in the first place... tough opposition is like sharpening your blade... and he would learn a lot from fighting Pov because Pov can bang and has fast hands... so Whyte can test his agility more against a power puncher..

He already tested his agility against Parker and did quite well against the way faster man...

Anyways lets hope 2020 is Whyte's year.... he is so angry... SO PISSED OFF... he is entering 2020 with MAXIMUM violence... so lets see what happens.

The UKAD news didnt even cheer him up, he wont even smile.

Know what you mean, there’s no way of knowing what’s the right thing. He’d obviously be motivated for his first title shot and be fresher without fighting Povetkin but as I say, I think Whyte is a fighter who needs to be fighting good opponents to keep himself going and properly focused on the sport.

Would be a good fight. I'd rather Pov-Hunter rematch if I'm honest but this is cool too. It's not prime Pov but he can still fight for 12 rounds which honestly surprises me

Povetkin needs to take care of Hunter first. they already agreed to a rematch. Povetkin's promoter Ryabinsky supposedly has already started working on some details for the rematch. it could take place in Moscow in late March/April. When Povetkin gets passed Hunter, he should get Whyte, KO him, and hopefully that should set up 1 last title shot for him!

I know Whyte has done his elimination bouts. But some kind of set deal that Wilder must defend against Povetkin/Whyte winner, sooner rather than later, would be ideal. But not likely to happen because I'm sure Wilder will be rematching Fury if he loses and probably rematching him anyway if he wins.

As much as I like Povetkin, he got hit quite a bit on the body by Hunter, not to imagine what Whyte would do. I would favor Whyte here 70/30. Povetkin should rematch Hunter and go for Pulev maybe. Whyte would be better off with Ortiz or Miller.
