A boxer (AJ) that runs away from his opponent all night doesn't deserve 4 belts

I remember Ali getting praised for the rope-a-dope and simular tactics.

Im sure AJ boxed the same way in the first two rounds of their first fight. There was no complaints of supposed running from Ruiz back then. If anything, those first two rounds (of the 1st fight) should've been a good indicator of what was to come from Joshua in the rematch. Again, it comes back to Ruiz and his preparation.

Larry Holmes danced around the ring like a ballerina against Ernie Shavers. Its called having footwork.

I hear AJ is to be a judge on the next series of strictly come dancing!!

Seriously though, you can't fault his performance, it was a classic case of outboxing your opponent, something that you are trained to do when you take up the sport, hit and not get hit.

As Billy Conn once said, the idea about fighting is don't let the other guy hit you, because if he can't hit you he can't hurt you, simple.

Sure we would have liked both to have engaged in a shoot out like the first fight but hey ho it's done now, and even though I was one who thought ruiz would win again, I am a fan of boxing and tip my hat to AJ and congratulate him on his victory and the manner in which he did it.

    As for ruiz.

    Fat cnut.

A member on this former that doesn't know sh&t about boxing doesn't deserve to post here. go look at the compubox numbers. AJ didn't run. he mostly stood with Ruiz... It's not AJ's fault that Ruiz was too dumb to cut off the ring. I think you should go watch BKFC... there's always slugfests there... not too much skill, just 2 dumb brutes beating their brains in... I think thats more suited for your tastes.

I think there is a big difference between putting yourself in arms way and engaging, using your parrying and blocking skills as well as not being scared to take a few to get some of yours in against one of the most devastating punches in heavyweight history.

At the side of AJ dancing around like a robotic fairy against a 20 stone blob who hardly moved, crapping himself every time he got touched, it might sound harsh but that’s the truth and the difference I’m afraid.

I am chilled, I just thought it was a night and day comparison that’s all, but yes the better boxer on both occasions won, agreed.

I think that outmoving and outlanding on a guy 3 stone heavier than you that knocked you out earlier this year is a pretty smart and impressive response to said defeat.

I wanted Ruiz to win, I thought Joshua was ready for pasture. I was wrong, he came in at a great weight, boxed Ruiz's head off and demonstrated a hitherto unseen understanding of the sweet science.

Joshua isn't just back, he's stepped up a level. I still don't know if he beats Fury or Wilder but he's earned my respect with that display. People bitching about it either don't understand boxing or have yet to go through puberty.

Remember when AJ had the audacity to criticize The Gypsy King for employing the Slick Gypsy style?

'‘I see AJ has been talking a bit of smack again, saying my fight was boring with Wladimir,’ he said on Instagram.

Better to win and be boring than getting dropped all over the floor and scrapping a win. ‘I never got punched, you got carried off the canvas nearly. ‘But winning is winning whether you win by an inch or a mile. Still winning.

‘Big useless dosser, what you are. ‘A big bum from the streets of London, a big bully that’s what you are. Used to bully little people on the streets.’'

I favour Fury if I have to choose (for love of boxing only), but I'm not gonna stand here and whine when a man learns his own mistakes and betters himself like AJ just did.. Joshua did just exactly that and we saw it live... AJ is actually a man who could walk away a multi-multi-millionaire, but when **** hit the fan he went straight to the gym and worked his body and his mind into a position to earn back what he wanted, the chance to be a boxing great, not the money......
Sorry, but anyone who denies this is not a fan of boxing one bit...

Fury overcame adversity, now we've just witnessed Joshua do it, in his own way.

Maybe Wilder will in "Nichols or Scorniers 2"..... Or if we're really lucky, Ortizn't 3

Come one.... support boxing for once, not just the fighters.

When did you start watching boxing OP?
Have you ever heard of Muhammad Ali? He did the same thing against alot of guys and I guess he didn't deserve the title either?

OP is a complete IMBECILE and I don't even like Joshua.

It's like half of the general forum started watching boxing a week ago and decided to make a forum account.

PLEASE just spend a few weeks educating yourself on the very basics of boxing and its history before you spill your idiocy all over the internet.

There's moving and jabbing, and then there's just plain moving. Joshua didn't throw a lot of punches. 300 wasn't alot. The bodybuilder landed like 100 punches, the whole fight. That's not good punch stats. He's like 5 inches taller than that fatty. That's not much an accomplishment really. Just proves that Anthony's power seems to have been gobbled up by that disgusting blobs appetite. A 267lb version of Ruiz is just too much for these feeble bodybuilder. The 282lb version came straight out of hospital. He probably just had his gastric band fitted! Lol
