Joe was a far better tactical boxer than Froch but how would his notoriously brittle hands have held up hitting Carl's rock head round after round ? With smashed up hands he couldn't have kept Froch off him. While the logical pick is Calzaghe on points, there is a strong argument for Froch stopping him anytime after the 9th. Would have been a terrific fight though.
Calzaghe did'nt even have the balls to fight him, all the while fighting complete tomato cans bums. Calzaghe was a cowardly gutless over-hyped slapper. So cowardly he pulled of fighting Glen Johnson 3 freaking times LOL. At least Froch actually fought a whole list of champions and top contenders and built an impressive resume. Froch was begging for the fight for years while Calzaghe cowardly was sneering and saying things like 'I'd beat him anyway'.
Joe would have beaten anyone put in front of him. One of the most adaptable fighters to ever grace the sport. Haters will hate, but if you know, you know!
Calzaghe wins a 116-112/ 117-111 type points decision. It would be competitive but Calzaghe's extra adaptability wins the day. He also has the engine to stay with Froch down the stretch. Calzaghe tended to fight to the level of his competition sometimes (look at his meh outings with fighters like Starie and Kabary Salem), but he'd know he can't take liberties with Froch. Froch was the opposite, his technique was only adequate and that would get shown to a certain extent by the very good list of opponents he fought, but intangibles would usually pull him through against all but the very best. Unfortunately, Calzaghe falls into that category.
This. There will be a surge at some point by Froch because hes getting outpointed, then Calzaghe climbs on top again down the stretch, I think he could take a beating at stages very late Froch. Joe without a doubt
This would've been a showcase fight for Joe C, he absolutely embarrasses Froch. I really liked watching both guys fight, but I don't think it would have been competitive.
I don't see it. Joe had a great chin and even when he did go down recovered very quickly. They were both tremendously fit. Calzaghe had a huge edge in speed and volume. His ring IQ was very good and he could adapt mid fight. Froch teak tough but a bit one paced and a defensively open and struggled with fast fighters who could move. Dirrell etc. If Kessler could outpoint Froch I don't see how Calzaghe with his variety and punch output wouldn't win. For all the criticism of Calzaghes puching style later in his career no one walked him down with any great success and that's what Froch would have to do. Calzaghe on points every day of the week.
Calzaghe woulda slapped the sh*t out of Froch. However, Froch is the more proven fighter in my opinion. His resume is far superior even though Joe retired at 46-0. Calzaghe has a Wilder level resume.
