Wasted his career, turned down big fights, ducked Dillian Whyte to fight Dave Allen, couldn't beat Wilder when he is supposed to be some big shot Cuban talent Name me four credible guys he has beaten? I'm willing to accept he has been around longer than Boxrec and wikipedia, so he might have fought some guys before the internet was born, but come on man... his last 30 fights have been wank
People just spouted stuff about him that wasn't really true, he's this, he's that.. and folk just parroted it, warranted or not. It's all a bit like you over rating whyte, really. And that's not a dig, but you do over rate him.
Fair play but if I have ovveratted Whyte on a particular aspect i more than happy to discuss it objectively People say Whyte has terrible stamina for example... How?
He noticeably drops off late and doesn't conserve energy well. Fury, Wilder and even Joshua can show they can keep their pace later rounds. Whyte vs Parker is the best example. He was keeping pressure most of the fight hence why is stamina looks bad, after Round 6-7 it was clear that he was slowing down. He's a big fella and has some muscle and weight on him so it's hard to carry it later rounds
Well, his best win is Jennings. He's got some skills but come on, now, Jennings? Not a bad fighter but that's all you've got?
In the Parker fight it was Whyte pushing the pace while Parker gassed and took rounds off then came strong in the final round Parker shot his load early thinking he would get Whyte out quicklly as Whyte is a slow starter and Parker is vastly more agile and fast In the chisora rematch? Whyte conserved his energy well and Chisora who has always been known to have a good engine.. was in the best shape of his life and still punched himself out and he started gassing and taking deep breaths... you could see Chisora stumble after each round when walking back to his corner.. go take a look im not lying Whereas Whyte maintained good stamina for 11 rounds Im this Rivas fight Whyte was the busier man overall and never gassed once, Rivas however slowed down noticeably towards the end in not doing much back backing whyte into a corner and just being static exactly like he did against jennings .. stalking him down but not really applying much pressure So Whyte has a decent tank actually especially as he was the heavier fighter in most of his fights, and we dont expect HWs to have good stamina its just science... our lungs and heart are only so big and the more mass you have the harder it is... unsuprisingly moving across the spectrum of boxing weight classes upto HW you gain power and lose stamina ive not ever seen Whyte take rounds off in a fight but ive seen Chisora in both their fights take rounds of completely even the commentators make note of it Whyte is a grafter he digs deep and applies constant pressure People who say he has bad stamina are complete liars bad accuracy? Sure ill agree on that Bad footwork? Sure ill agree on that Average technique? Sure ill agree on that bad chin? Hell effing no
He was putting more of a beating on Wilder than Fury was, and Fury is meant to be the GOAT or something.
Ortiz got two shots at a world title and made a good account of himself both times. He showed up in shape and performed his best. How is that a waste?
I don't think Whyte necessarily has a bad tank, I just think that sometimes he gets his pacing wrong. He can also load up too much. Fury particularly, Wilder, and AJ in his last fight, looked good in the later rounds as they don't throw many punches.
Wilder is the least technically capable boxer in the universe Ortiz is the cuban maestro of boxing, the professor, the most skilled, the most decorated, the supposed boogeyman
And? Not everyone can be world champion. How many highly decorated or highly praised boxers have failed to captured a title? Thousands. It’s not like he threw his career away overeating or doing drugs. He simply lost to a better fighter. There’s always someone better.
He’s performed well in two title shots. This is something that Dillian “Fat Elvis” Whyte is unlikely to ever achieve. Perhaps Fat Elvis shouldn’t have ducked Ortiz twice in those eliminators if he wanted the title shot.
