The way to defeat Deontay Wilder is fighting him on the inside

I think to beat Wilder you need someone with the skills and attributes of Tyson Fury i.e. Height, Reach, Legs, Boxing Skills and the punching power, legendary chin of Mike Tyson. You have to strategically keep the fight long and then rush inside when the opportunity presents itself attacking the body with both the left, right and then coming up with the upper cut.

It kinda makes sense what you are trying to say, but what about while he is defending himself, he counter attacks?

I noticed that too. His punches are being thrown a little straighter. However, as others have mentioned, his head movements and shoulder rolls suck. That’s why he uses that hop back technique he does. If Wilder had better defense, he would be a heavyweight for the ages.

LOL, you arm chair pistoleros do realize that you have to go thru 6 -7 feet of kill zone aka reach to get to Wilder ? Wilder ifghts tall...... Ortiz came in twice and was laid out twice and no matter how many old man jokes you cite he is and was always a extremely well schooled Southpaw with power and experience.

Such a boxer doesn't and likely never will exist.

Even if they did, using a stick and move tyson fury style will decrease the amount of pop in your punches because you're stepping away from the opponent and bouncing on your toes. You cant break down a guy with such a style, it isnt meant for that.

I do think going to the body could be a good strategy against wilder. He's tall with very long arms and it doesn't seek like he'd be comfortable at that range. The obvious danger of stepping within his firing range to get there would be a huge risk and a problem no matter how good a fighter's speed or head movement is.

Lennox is a once in a century specimen. There wont be another boxer like him for at least 50 years.

Tall, strong as an ox, but smart, disciplined, good technique, thunderous power when he lets his hands go, knows how to win rounds, good clincher, good jab, savage uppercut. He has the tools to beat almost anyone at his best.

I'd be extremely nervous about wilder's right hand tho. He would either need to stay on the outside and outbox wilder cautiously or jump on him early like he did golota/ruddock and beat the breaks off of him. Mixing it up, being lazy and lethargic (which he could be in some fights) or brawling would be suicide.

I still think Wilder is most vulnerable to a good counter puncher. That’s how Ortiz almost got him in the first fight. Fury also did well to counter him, but didn’t have the power to seriously hurt him.

Yeah this is my take too. I don’t think we’ve seen wilder put under pressure before. Fighting on the inside is risky but I think the fighter that beats him (Fury already has to be honest but let’s not go there) will probably of adopted this tactic and gotten him out of there before he lands anything big.

obviously it won’t work every time but someone will try it at some point I guess.

it will probably be in a similar manner to how Ruiz beat Joshua, Ruiz gambled a bit to get on the inside and managed to land something and hurt him. I see wilder going the same way. Obviously you’ll have to ride your luck a bit but Wilder can definitely be hit.

Totally, what is surprising is nobody has tried it yet.

Agree with the points laid out here.

However, and I'm being serious, you would have to be careful about rabbit punches from Wilder. He's so sloppy that his hooks would cuff round your head, and I'm sure he does some intentionally.

Southpaw. With a right hand magnet for a headtops. He's litterally built for Wilder.

Open to rights, flat footed, slow and stiff and low workrate. Yet Wilder still struggled like **** with him

Jab him to soften him up then land a stiff right on his ugly grill.

Joshua is the man to get the job done.

Absolutely. Tall, rangy, fast snipers generally need room/space to throw and land their powerpunches. Getting inside and bodying them and swarming them disrupts their rthym and throws them all out of sorts. They need the fights to take place at medium to long range. I dont recall ever seeing Wilder throw an uppercut worth throwing or an actual short and crisp hook. I dont think he has the core strength, feet, balance, fluidity, foot snap, or body leverage to actually throw a proper hook with serious lead in it(not talking about the windmill shots those aren't hooks). But this is WAY tougher to do than it is in theory. Wilder is EXTREMELY strong for his size and usually throws around much bigger guys, hes fast of hand and foot, he's actually pretty adept at keeping fights at distance, and as always -- his power. To get inside on him you're gonna have to chance it and cross the danger zone. He has the speed to throw a missile right down the pipe and pinpoint it on an unsuspecting target who was caught cold in between movements.

If there really was an easy way to beat Wilder, it would have been done by now. Some of the best in the world have tried and couldn't comprehensively do it. I think the only guys at the moment that could possibly do it are Fury, AJ, maybe Ruiz but highly unlikely. I agree with @IntentionalButt too in believing Darmani Rock would be a load for Wilder and I wouldn't wager anything on either fighter, one of them would be getting yoked up. Hrgovic I think will develop into a fighter all wrong for Wilder but I don't think he's there yet.

There's lots of ways to beat him FFS.

Coming forward is dumb however unless you have a truely iron chin, which is super rare. Not many people can stand up to 1 flush right hand from Wilder. Ruiz if he gets his fat ass in shape could possibly do it, other than him I don't recommend anyone coming inside on him.
