Some idiot at work that thinks he knows it all would refer to anthony joshua as joshua anthony. And said that he was the best heavyweight right now.

I remember a thread on an mma forum years ago in which after hearing about the Tyson gorilla anecdote where Tyson supposedly wanted to climb into an enclosure at a zoo after seeing a bigger Gorilla bully a small one someone wrote a huge paragraph including style analysis as to why Tysons peekabo style would be perfectly suited to defeat the Gorilla and went to great length to argue with anyone who said otherwise

Look up the Dunning-Kruger effect. It describes exactly what you say there. Sadly, it's not just in boxing you'll see a lot of it these days...I fear the internet has changed everything for the worst. People being 110% convinced cause they saw a youtube vid or facebook post and such.. Ignorance has always been a problem but its having its heyday now... The greatest ignoramusses used to just say "Uh...I dont know about that, sorry fella", while these days they are straight up convinced their opinion is the only right one. See those flat-earthers, religious or political extremists, vegan fundamentalists that let their kids starve (nothing against informed vegans that actually know what the human body needs, btw), etc...the list is endless these days.

When you were a nutcase before, there was always the chance you realised it yourself by virtue of never meeting any other nutcases. The chances of meeting someone in your neighbourhood with the exact same idiotic convictions was likely nihil. These days, just go browse the internet for 5 minutes and you'll find plenty of sites, messageboards and whatnot full of other nutcases and voila....you're no longer alone with your crazy convictions and they've been validated beyond doubt! Good luck trying to rehabilitate nutcases now.

Plenty of videos out there of Boxer vs (insert other martial art) and the Boxer winning, especially with Traditional Martial arts where the Boxer pretty much always wins. Someone who is decent at most aspects of hand-to-hand combat skills may lose to someone who is at an elite level at one of the skills, at the very least, (Jack of all trades, master of none idea, though I'm not saying that makes boxers inherently superior).

Regardless, Bruce Lee weighed about 135, and had virtually no experience in actual fights (literally only one official bout). So we have a much smaller actor who has almost zero experience in fights versus arguably the greatest H2H World Heavyweight Champion.

Mike Ehrmantraut said it best when he exclaimed "unless Bruce Lee has his gun, Ali takes him down in three minutes or less"

    That is a good one!
Anybody who thinks Tyson or anyone would defeat a decent sized adult gorilla without an effective weapon is living on another dimension of consciousness.
Basically it would be up to the Gorilla whether it wanted to kill him.
    Even before you consider biting...

Friend of mine while watching mini-boxing documentary during clips of Dempsey, Schmelling, Baer, Louis etc.
"Man, these guys would lose to even the worst amateurs today because of their low guard"

Along with "Bruce Lee beats Ali, Tyson etc, I've heard such claims as "Dwane The Rock Johnson" beats Ali, as well as every other boxer besides Tyson. Same with John Cena (different people)

"Boxing is useless in a street fight"

"Mayweather would destroy all pre-1960's heavyweights."

"Logan Paul is actually a great boxer"

"Any NFL Linebacker would destroy most pro Boxers"

"All Tyson had was Physical gifts"

    "Marciano is unbeatable because 49-0"

I still to this day wonder why anyone would pick Lacy against Calzaghe - Lacy just flat couldn't box.

Here's one that has come from 'knowledgeable' fans: Wilt Chamberlain could beat Muhammad Ali in a boxing match. LOLOL!

Certainly we cannot expect Lee to beat a great fighter who is so much larger.
But I just do not know that if it is true that all the experience Lee had in training & teaching means he was not at least great in martial arts, for his size.
Are you saying that he is basically a fraud?

As for his size, many sources talk about him both losing weight & exhausted at the end of filming "Enter the Dragon"...
And about how he had bulked up, according to this first reference to 165 lbs.
Also that he set "at least 7" Guiness world records, seemingly likely having to do with body weight excercises.

I wonder if any man has ever lived who could take on such a foe...... Sigh....
Hey, I don't deny the man is a legend of fitness, and he certainly was of traditional martial arts. However, traditional martial artists generally do very poorly against consistently evolving Martial Arts (such as Boxing, Jiu Jitzu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing,). A proficient MMA YouTuber Ramsey Dewey has made some great videos on the subject of traditional martial arts and why this is. One of his main reasons was an often lack of real sparring and matches in such arts as Karate, Kung Fu, and Taekwondo. Considering Bruce Lee has a final record of 1-0-0, he not only lacks the size, reach and power of Ali, but he lacks experience in real fights altogether, his single bout not even being against an amateur-level fighter. "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face" is precisely what would happen here.

Lee was right when he exclaimed Ali would kill him.
