Pavlik has already been elevated way beyond his actual achievements, much like Lacy was.

My memory is that, on these boards, Lacy was just as hyped up as Pavlik. If not more so.

It's a good thing that Calzaghe realized that Pavlik is just like Lacy. He knows that a fight with Pavlik is a forgone conclusion.

Joe Calzaghe is very kind and generous and doesn't like to embarrass people.

 

I'm not saying the fight would pan out the same way but some people are looking for the next stick to beat Calzaghe with & that stick is now Pavlik. If you look at Pavlik's record he hasn't done anything to deserve the accolades he is recieving.

 

Lacy was is and always will be a piece of ****. Dont hype that guy to hype your guy it wont work.

I have something to say to all the people who "knew" Lacy was hype, You bunch of lying mother ****ers!
I joined this forum because of that fight, I remember about 4 days before the fight I got an email from calzaghe.tv inviting me to come see a masterclass of boxing hosted by Professor Calzaghe, I then came here and made a post about how Joe would win easy. Within seconds I was being abused left, right and center. One of the main guys to post abuse was ray gordon reid (I miss his posts) And only a handful of guys backed me up. Lacy amnesia has done some terrible thing to alot of people's minds.

 

Pavlik, while also having many limitations as a boxer, has actually earned his hype for the most part.

Lacy on the other hand was a media creation. Never beat anyone worth a damn.

Lacy back then got more hype than Calzaghe gets now. :rofl

 

Lacy was ridiculously hyped, but also didn't have nearly as good of a resume as Pavlik has to this point.
