I said he should have got rid of Ben or just kept him as a strength and conditioning coach but the timing is bizarre. He’s apparently fighting on February 22nd so to change a trainer mid camp is a weird move. Worth noting that Saunders has already left Davison so I wonder where that leaves him?
It’s like saying that the players at the clubs managed by the likes of Roy Hodgson, Brendan Rogers and Andre Villas-Boas at the start of their careers would learn little because they were young and never played professionally. Lack of both years on the planet and experience doesn’t seem to have done Shane McGuigan any harm either!
Bad move imo. Furys big problem seems to be motivation...ben seemed to keep him motivated. Most serious coaches wont spend the time needed for someone like fury. In terms of dealing with him in the not so motivated days. Most of them are serious people....ben seemed to strike a good balance between keeping him motivated and getting him training. Fury knows how to fight....what he isnt great at is staying motivated. Ben also seemed to understand him more than the older coaches.
Interesting move, it does show that Fury is still very serious about his career. Peter Fury would be the obvious choice, but he can't travel to America? Unless Bob Arum, Top Rank and ESPN have some serious influence?
Hodgson, Villas Boas and Rodgers didn't start off their career managing Man United or Barcelona. How many Shane McGuigan's have we seen? He also had to work his way up with Frampton before world class fighters knocked on his door. He and Frampton learned together from the bottom to the top. There's exceptions to everything in life. Davison may also be an exception but Fury's performances under him suggest otherwise.
