Completely missed the point. Historically speaking Marcianos KO percentage and how quickly he did it are remarkable. These are stats you can look up. There may have been five or six people EVER who knocked people out quicker on average. The argument he knocked X guy out in this round and so and so did it in this round is not a good one . You know styles make fights. That and there are varying degrees of a career.
You can’t say a guy that knocked out 88 pct of his opponents in four rounds or less isn’t a power puncher. Nor can you dismiss his opponents recollection or the actual numbers in regards. Still he knocked out EVERYONE he met over 200. What you think of them is irrelevant to the argument. The argument is can he compete with these heavier men? The answer is obviously yes.
Most men retiring at 32 would still be ok. Except short swarmers. Frazier Tyson and Marciano were not the same men by that age and they are the staple of short powerful HWs

I don't say he wasnt a power puncher, but if you compare some of his wins against older tired versions of guys that others ko'd quicker when they were nearer their primes he doesn't come out so well .For example Tommy Gomez took two of their common opponents out in1 round.Marciano's stats as far as ko 's are concerned are very easy to hype ,but look at some of the dross he was fighting.
No the question is could he achieve these kos over 200lbs + class men who could hit and he never proved he could. Also Marciano faced very, very few punchers, let alone modern sized heavyweights of any ability .
Those we have discussed are basically Lamar Clark level opponents!

His lack of a monster puncher opponent on his resume is the only glare unless u count Luis which wouldn’t be fair to count (was still a good win). He did face on average better punchers then most though. No monsters but on average for his career better punchers then the average good to great fighter fights. Either way it shows he was very capable of knocking out men 200 plus. The human chin can only take so much

His statistics say he faced better then average punchers through out his career. His opponents total KO percentage was higher then the average in other words.

My position is that Marciano did not face many real punchers.
    I named
    Walcott
    Moore
And ,if you want to include him ,Layne.
    You disagree? Name some more.
ps I didn't include Layne in the other champs resumes as I don't consider him a real banger at all.

Journeyman Johnny Schkor who had been kod in1 round in his previous fight, had won just 13 of his previous 31 fights and who would retire for 4 years after the Marciano fight. And that's the best you can do!

Is he a modern sized heavyweight?

Johnny was not a journeyman. He was a headliner in Boston. He held his own against a lot of good fighters. Beat Tami Mauriello and took Joe Louis to a newspaper decision.
