Excellent post . Just one slight oversight, Archie Moore was the original chew steak and spit it out guy.

No way Marciano drains down to 175. He already was cut at 180-185. Look at his photos.

Regarding modern training techniques....no question they are better now, but one thing that NO ONE can argue against Marciano was his stamina...the man trained like a mad man.

I just can't see him being effective at 175, and I don't think he'd consider getting that low in weight. But who knows, really.

Some people's ego and self-esteem delude them into thinking that if Marciano fought today, he would somehow be this 250-pound beast and would destroy everybody easily, and if you disagree YOU ARE A HERETIC.

The reality is that Marciano today would fight at max light heavyweight, and more likely super middleweight. He wouldn't be favoured against the likes of Beterbiev and Kovalev. If there was a way of transporting Marciano to the current era, many people would get a rude awakening.

Rocky was a thick-set stocky guy who pushed his body as far as it would go to make 185+. His extreme training camps and diet is well documented.
At 185 he was cut from stone...Losing another 10lbs to male light heavy would have drained his muscle and strength away , and probably his endurance too.
Cruiserweight is more realistic. He would do good at CW with his savage strength , power and ring cutting abilities. No 175 ponder in history would stand a chance against him.

Those clubs he had for arms produced power that registered a score of “925 foot pounds when tested by the US Army

dinovelet hit the nail on the head. Rocky trained for endurance. He would have still been a good at 210 lbs. but worked his butt off in order to deliver fifteen rounds of haymakers, if need be.

    Water cut. Heard of it?
He wouldn't have to lose a single ounce of extra muscle or fat. Just manipulate his water and sodium to weigh in at 175 and be 185+ in the ring the next day easy

Dont be an amateur and look at pictures where he is punching. Its like when your curling or dead lifting heavy, your muscles just pump up and you will appear way leaner then you are.

Ok, pretty much ever picture of a boxer shirtless nowadays has them flexing. Dudes back then didn't have that kind of ego to flex for every picture, this is the only fair comparison
