Obviously sometimes guys get punch drunk but it doesn’t happen anywhere near as often as certain media outlets would have you believe.

Its extremely damaging. Just go to your local boxing gym and talk to guys with over 20 amateur bouts and youll see. No need to talk about pros.
Look how much damage alcohol does to your brain and i am certain that boxing is even worse. Our brain is super sensitiv.

I’m curious, why are you a boxing fan if it’s so dangerous?

    Also you can hear how clear Willie Pep is here after 2000 rounds boxed and he looks about 70;

Plus from my first hand experience I don’t think 20 amateur boxing bouts will do much to the brain outside of a freak knockout.

You can be a fan of many things that are dangerous.
To the peep interview, i mean it kind of shows how bad the sport is for your health when when you are showing me guys that are speaking clear without any stuttering or so.
5 year olds can speak, the ability to put a sentence together can not be used as an argument.
What does first hand amateur experience means in your case?
Its not the 20 fights itself or the one ko that is going to ruin your brain, its the countless rounds of sparring that is connected with having 20 fights. Nobody just starts boxing and fights 20 times a year.

What does load of mean. And the damage can come in later years.

you do realize that almost every pro boxer in the world would say that i am correct about what i am saying, cause they know the best.

I’m not hugely experienced, I’ve had a few white collar bouts, kickboxing and MMA but I’ve been around the gym a lot and not seen guys with issues. I’ve had about 20 fights in all, slightly more wins than losses.

True most of the guys I saw were on the younger side of things.

The only thing I saw was sometimes my old coach would have a slightly dodgy memory but nothing major.

I would trust a brain surgeon over a boxer on the issue of brain health.

I’d talk to a pro boxer about boxing technique and strategy.

There’s plenty of Neuroscientists who say boxing is nowhere near as bad for the brain as the media would have you believe.

Load of means around 100 fights. He had stopped a few years ago and nothing has come up. Hell I know guys who are doing boxing and their medicine degrees. It doesn't damage the brain as much as you think. ****ing football (American and European) is more concussive a sport.

ok first off your just making stuff up. Dont tell me that their are tons of guys with medical degrees that where amateur boxers, thats simply not true. Saying that american or european football is more brain damaging then boxing is beyond stupid. The goal in boxing is to concuss the opponents head, i mean come on.

Punchdrunk is one of the things that happen to some ppl, but inexplicably not to others. Sweet Pea seldom took headshots, but his speech indicates otherwise. ODLH got hit more than he did, and speaks completely clear. George Foreman also somehow speaks clearly. I think it happens more often than not. Almost every single old fighter I recall watching an interview of seems like boxing messed them up a bit.

I'm a fan of boxing and of football, but that doesn't stop me acknowledging the dangers of both. A lot of damage in older boxers won't have been as apparent due to earlier mortality rates in previous eras. With better knowledge and healthcare the rather obvious point that repeated blows to the head are not conducive to good health will only be more apparent.

It's not just boxing either. When former NFL players are blowing a hole in their torso to ensure their brains can be examined post mortem, its obvious that blows to heads are a big issue.

I think boxing may not be around as we know it in 20 years or so and football (soccer and gridiron for that matter) will change dramatically once heading the ball is outlawed.

With Whittaker I’d say you can’t rule out crack cocaine being a factor in some of his behaviour.
