Like lesser known, interesting stories/personalities for me to look into? I don't mind if it's ATGs, contenders, I just wanna get my teeth into something unique. So by defining old school by their best performance/prime being in 1965 or earlier. So... Anybody come to mind?
One I found interesting was Billy Miske. He held Dempsey to a draw and had wins over fireman Jim Flynn, Bill Brennan, Fred Fulton and a draw with Tommy Gibbons. He suffered from a kidney disease called Brights, which he had from at least 1918,he fought on till 1923 with that unbelievably. His last fight was against Bill Brennan and he died shortly after on new years day, 1924.
Kid McCoy would be another great one, just the stories of his many methods of thwarting the rulebook/tricking his foes alone make for a good read.
James Broad...he almost always came in very overweight yet almost always was an entertaining fighter. The man could punch, and he could be a vicious finisher. He just didn't have the discipline or overall skill I guess.

Son of Philadelphia? If so let me know how you like it. I thought it was pretty good but it’s been a few years. Stumbled upon it at a library so it’s not one I have ever had a copy of.
Yeah that one. I’ll start reading it tomorrow. Meant to get it a while back but it had slipped my mind.
It is a good book but makes you sad at the price the choice of drugs costs these fools who choose or chose that life.
