Johnson was a great fighter but his chin was his weakness. I see Bob winning savagely in the mid rounds. Thoughts?

Why did you want him hurt?

Johnson would need to come at Foster the way Hagler went at Hearns to have any chance, unlike some of Foster' opponents like D.Tiger Johnson could hit hard enough to hurt Foster. Johnson's awkward southpaw fighting style could catch Foster by surprise... But the much more likely scenario is Foster starching Johnson within 4rds. The ref probably could count to 30 before Johnson start moving again.

Prime Bob Foster, 1968-1974, would have a tough fight on his hands against Marvin Johnson, for the first 5 rounds, fighting behind his southpaw right jab, as he attempts to crowd Bob, as he did when he fought Victor Galindez, in 1979. But the only difference is Foster's long left jab and movement, which keeps Marvin at bay. Marvin aggressively charges in to crash home his hard left hook, only to be met by a smashing right hand to the jaw by Bob, Johnson stumbles to the canvas in round 6, for the full ten count. Marvin took Matthew Saad Muhammad's best, in their classic 1979 bout, but Bob when he had to, moved a bit before planting his feet to land with force, and kayo his opponent as he did to Vicente Rondon, in 1972, KO 2.

Whenever, what round, what minute of the round, whenever...Foster would get around to putting Marvin's lights out....probably with a left...like Spinks did with a right.

It was a left uppercut if memory serves correctly. One of the greatest single shots I've ever seen in my life.

Foster takes Johnson's head off and adds it to his collection.

Foster by KO in 6 rounds max.

He would probably control Marvin from the outside and catch Johnson on the way in.

I wouldn't say Johnson had a bad chin. But he did lack defense. To last with Bob, he would gave to have a great chin and his was just good, not great.

To last w Bob you needed defense. Marvin had a good chin. He fought three monster punchers in Saad, Mustafa and Mike. Dick Tiger had a great chin. Foster was just too good and too dangerous.

Good point about Tiger. Part of he Tiger loss was him being physically overmatched similarly to the way Duran was overmatched against Hearns.

Marvin Johnson was one of my favorites, but this fight, at some point, would end very very badly for him.
