I became a boxing fan 3 years ago after I started boxing myself at 15. Lomachenko was the first boxer that really caught my eye and ive really loved and learned alot about the sport since then

Well as a child I wasnt a boxing fan I did how ever get excited over an old man coming back to win the title...and some guy named holyfield which I pronounced hollyfield cause i was ignorant ..
I remembered my dad talking about holmes and thought when I saw a news article about this hollyfield fighting Holmes like it was some kinda super fight..i remember going to my grandpa about it ..lmao cause I was so clueless...

Short story long..when I finally settled down into watching it and being a fan it was around 2002 2003 I remember getting one of those year end boxing books and just going through records...I remember Trinidad standing out for me ...i remember mike Tyson standing out...tua ..then when i finally watched it ..i really liked cotto

My dad used to bring me into watch de la hoya fight a lot. But independently, Marco Antonio Barrera was the first fighter I gravitated toward when he beat hamed. Followed by pre fame mayweather

David Tua and Maselino Masoe, 2 Samoans based in NZ who had successful careers helped me get interested in the sport.

As a kid, Ali was more like a cartoon character or super hero than a boxer so the first guys I followed were Tony Sibson and Pat Cowdell. The first fight I went to was Cowdell v Needham for the British Title. Ref Sid Nathan nearly started a riot by giving the decision to Needham.
There are some seriously young posters on this forum. Good to see.

Chronological order of favorite fighters (not that new ones became my favorite favorite but just that they became 'a' favorite)

    1. Fernando Vargas in 2002
    2. Wlad Klitschko 2002
    3. Micky Ward 2002
    4. Arturo Gatti 2002

    5. Ricardo Mayorga 2003
    6. Miguel Cotto 2003

    7. Kassim Ouma 2005
    8. Edison Miranda 2005
    9. Erik Morales 2005
    10. Ricky Hatton 2005

    ....

This is not my top 10. Just my 'first 10'.
